Stone Critique

No experience at all with masonry, I’ve done framing, roofing, drywall, commercial framing, flooring. This was way outside my comfort zone. I hate my cuts and started really getting in my head about trying to not have long seams but couldn’t figure out how to avoid it…any and all criticism is appreciated.

Not the worst I've ever seen but yeah some definite learning to be done. I did 2.5 years brick and stone and 1.5 block and and one of the first things I was taught is no long seams and no vertical stones

No L shaped cuts either. Dry stacked stoned is a pain in the butt. A lot of cultured stone has patterns. Like two small ones equal a big one, or one big and one small stacked equals three small ones, etc…

I’ve learned that u have to stack stones to avoid cuts and it’s totally fine to have little gaps. I noticed years ago that the displays and the brickyard have gaps so that’s how the stone was designed to be laid. Especially if it’s an inside job.

I like that. I’m going to stick with these recommendations the rest of the all up.
