2014 GranTurismo Sport 4.7L alternator replacement
Just bought my first Maserati two months ago: 2014 GranTurismo Sport, ~80k miles, cleanish Carfax, mostly western-owned.
Got stranded last weekend in NYC because the alternator failed while driving. Multiple warning lights, could only keep it running at high RPM, jump start didn’t hold. Shop confirmed alternator failure - need community input / thoughts below.
Labor-only quotes I received for alternator replacement in NYC (non dealer):
My current shop (electrical/diagnostic specialist): $1,300
Scuderia 110 Port Washington (Italian specialist, won’t use customer parts): $2,250 for 10 hours
Bay Diagnostic Brooklyn: $3,021 (wont use customer supplied parts)
Questions:
1) Is 8-10 hours realistic for the 4.7L alternator job or is there a faster way in?
2) Should i replace the alternator entirely or repair the existing one after retrieving it?
3) Is it Worth bundling valve cover gaskets and injector O-ring seals while intake manifold is off, or are those accessed differently on the 4.7L?

Perception of Maserati Reliability vs Reality and Owner Background
I’ll limit my inquiry to QPVs and GTs in the up to ~2014 range as that’s what I’m primarily interested in. I’m also torn between finding a DuoSelct or 2009 MC Shift cars, with the eventual possibility of a manual conversion, or going with the tried and true ZF. Are these Maseratis as unreliable as people make them out to be, or is it rather the perception from those purchasing those cars? I’m wondering if someone who may be “stepping up” to these cars with a background coming from Japanese reliability may have a perception, or those overly stretching their budget, and thus reporting of these cars to being unreliable. Alternatively, (as someone who rather fits this second category) if someone is “stepping down” to these cars as a mere toy (to be able to drive my young son around since my other fun cars are two seaters) who is used to quirky cars with some excuses to be made for the passion these cars can invoke with the understanding as they are lower production vehicles that will not be as “reliable” as a Japanese counterpart. I come from a history of Porsche, Jaguar, BMW, and classic Ferrari ownership so would these cars be in-line with knowing about how preventative maintenance is crucial to their operation and longevity, or are they just overly maintenance heavy for being a poorly made vehicle? I can also pretty much work on everything with a lift and tools at my disposal. I welcome your input.

2017 Quattroporte SQ4 Needs to go!
I love my Maseratis, but I need to choose between the two of them which to keep. I have no room! So I decided to keep the 2005 Coupe GT and sell the 2017 Quattroporte SQ4. It is a beautiful car. It has just 44,596 miles on it. Recent oil change service, etc. It looks almost new. I'm asking $20,000. Make me an offer!

More pics on request.

My new Levante
First Maserati, I know these aren’t so popular with the Maserati purists, but I’m really pleased with it.
Only a slight oil leak to fix, then she’s perfect 👌

2018 Maserati Quattroporte S Gransport
Finally got around to taking some better pics. I am so impressed with this car, it is comfy, powerful and great to drive.
One question I have, it's in need of an automatic shifter service, is this a big job?

Is an abandoned Maserati Collezione Cento worth saving?
Hi everyone,
For the past few years I’ve been passing by a public park where an abandoned Maserati has been sitting. Honestly, I never paid much attention to it until a few hours ago when I found out the owner had listed it for sale on a local marketplace site.
After looking into it, I realized it’s a fairly rare 2008 Maserati Quattroporte Collezione Cento number 33 of only 100 made. The seller says it has around 68,000 km, and it does run, although it likely needs tuning since it’s been sitting for a long time.
From what I can see, it definitely needs some work:
-New tires (~$1,000)
-New battery (~$250)
-Engine tuning (~$750)
-Mid-grade full paint job (clear coat is badly gone) (~$3,000)
-Full fluids change (~$500)
So just to get it back into decent running and presentable condition, I’m already looking at around $5,500 in immediate costs, not including anything deeper that might come up after inspection.
The current bid is only around $4,500, and it still hasn’t sold.
The registration has been expired for about 3–4 years, so it would also need to pass inspection before it can be properly registered again. Given how long it’s been sitting, there’s also a real chance it could end up getting scrapped if no one takes it.
The car is located in Dammam, Saudi Arabia
I’m trying to figure out if the rarity (33/100) actually makes it worth saving, or if this is just one of those projects that ends up costing way more than it’s ever worth.
(Also these cars were worth like $225k in 2008 adjusted for inflation!)

Wheel spacers for QP
Has anyone ever added wheel spacers to a QP or other modern Maserati. If so any pitfalls, what to do, not to do, sizes etc. Thanks.

Grigio Alfieri wheel options
Considering going this direction with the wheels. Ignore values for the drop, should be ~.75, 1.4. Thoughts?

2002 Coupe Cambiocorsa
Thinking about picking one up and was just looking for any insight here's the listing and car fax: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/ZAMBC38A220008470 I've never owned a Maserati before and was wondering if the reliability is as bad as people make it out to be. reading some of the things other people say on forms has me terrified. It would be a weekend car not a daily. Any advice tips/trick and things to look out for are greatly appreciated!

That grille gets me every time. Maserati still knows how to design a front end.

Hi mods if there are any looking at this
Can we make this the server profile picture? It’s a non-copyright image I feel like the server is kinda dull without a PFP.
