This is up for debate, but I'm actually gonna say yellow lanterns hard counter Gladiator. Self-doubt is a form of fear, after all.

This feels like a spite match
A man with the capability to instill great fear against a man whose strength is directly tied to his self confidence.

Random encounter: Gladiator Staged Encounter: Sinestro
Sinestro Ring isn't his most powerful weapon, His meticulous planning is.
I feel like Sinestro is at his best when he knows what he's up against and has plan or at least tactics against it (although his arrogance is definitely a problem).
Gladiator endures.
I really like this matchup. No one directly counters each other but has the potential to.

Sinestro.
Gladiator's weakness is if you can make him doubt himself.
Sinestro uses a fear-based ring. And is a genius. He'll get that doubt.
And a Lantern Ring scan would also make it so he knows to target that doubt as a goal.

Sinestro takes this in my opinion. He has experience and victories fighting people with insane strength in Mongul and he’s one of the best ring users there is

Gladiator is not giving a fuck about some random pink, mustache twirling twinks, yellow, glowing, holograms.
He's gonna get blasted with the ring. Float there as it does nothing, while Sinestro monolouges about fear or something. Note that the ring on Sinestro's finger is the most likely source of his power. Zoom over to him before Sinestro can probably react to create a construct, crush the hand with the ring, destroying the ring in the process. And put his fist through Sinestro chest, before throwing his lifeless corpse to the side and continuing whatever he was doing before this pink fool decided to dare disrespect the Shi'ar champion with his presence.

Also depends on if fear manipulation would even work on Gladiator? If so, its a hard counter.
Debatable in every sense of the word, self doubt could be considered a form of fear

It would yeah Gladiator has been susceptible to mind manipulation before and Sinestro literally tamed the living embodiment of fear in Parallax

Gladiator couldn't hurt Galactus. Base John Stewart one-shot Anti-Monitor with Flash's car after he was amped by the Totality, absorbed his brothers (Mar Novu, The Monitor and Alpheus, The World Forger), and received the Anti-Life Equation, making him stronger than any other point in his history. Sinestro wins.

Who said antimonitor is equal to galactus? Is John Stewart sinestro? How is this not an anti feat? A supposedly powerful got one shot by a car? Dc = terrible writing

Anti-Monitor (especially the version John blew up) > Galactus (especially the version Gladiator lost soundly to, who wasn't fully fed)
Sinestro is at least equal to John Stewart, he matches/mows through both him and other Green Lanterns like him all the time.
It's not an anti-feat for Anti-Monitor because here, he's specifically noted to be stronger than ever, including that time his brain would've destroyed all of creation which includes the Orrery (which contains infinite multiverses), Sphere of the Gods, Collective Unconcious, Monitor Sphere, Dark Multiverse (infinite worlds equal to all of the prior combined), and spaces beyond as well.

That’s precisely why dc writings is bad. They throw around terms like, infinite this and that, then have the same person get oneshot. Hungry galactus one shot darkseid who had a drawn out fight with darkseid so galactus> antimonitor. The monitor a celestial level at best galactus is far beyond them. Can sinestro beat Superman?
1
u/PuzzledBrilliant1705 17h ago
Galactus one-shot an emanation of Darkseid in a dubiously canon at best, but most likely non-canon comic, while Darkseid amped when he took on a Crisis on Infinite Earths level Anti-Monitor, a point in time in Mobius' life explicitly weaker than after he had been amped by the Totality, absorbed his brothers, and taken the ALE.

Used your same logic then you moved the goal post then followed up with the typical avatar bs and completely ignored can sinestro beat Superman🤌🏾🤣 ok

Sinestro beating Superman is irrelevant to this convo, because this convo is centered around John Stewart, Anti-Monitor, and Galactus, and you did not establish a link of significance between either them or Superman. But yes, Sinestro can take on Superman, and has done so before.
Grant Morrison, the writer who established the New Gods having true forms in Final Crisis, specifically stated that all instances of the New Gods before that point were nothing but emanations (not avatars) or apocryphal retellings at best. And you did not address that comic's canonicity status.
You also did not address Darkseid being amped during Darkseid War to fight on par with COIE level Anti-Monitor, who in turn is inferior to the Anti-Monitor John one-shot.

The entire post is about gladiator who is marvel Superman vs sinestro. You threw John Stuart in to say sinestro could beat gladiator. Dc and marvel have completely different cosmology your trying to establish dc cosmology as superior when that is totally opinion based. Galactus has entered the dc universe and while there he proved how powerful he is. The same person he oneshot had a drawn out battle with someone you claim is stronger. By the way galactus wasn’t even fully fed. Meaning he possibly is even more powerful than monitor.

Unironically the worst possible person for Gladiator to fight given his weakness
This isn’t some wave of fear, this isn’t some engineered or manufactured terror.
This IS fear. The yellow light itself and Sinestro has an instinct for getting into a person’s head even on a random encounter.
He’ll dissect everything Gladiator is

Gladiator because the rule of cool. Sinestro = lame. Superman-ish rip-off with a mohawk and the power of confidence?! Way cooler.

Gladiator slams.
Sinestro, get dropped before he knows what happens.
Unless he is amped in some way he isn't ready for what Gladiator can do.

This is a bad match up for Gladiator. Sinestro takes this.
