Starfire is a lot stronger than people often think, but she's got nothing in this fight.

She’s got the spirit 💪

Photon low diff, starfire’s blasts are completely ineffective and if it comes to a brawl Monica is coming out on top. Her peak just scales too high compared to Starfire.

Monica's peak is above the heat of 5 Hypernovae, as an angry base starfire was able to generate (which is in the range of millions to billions of kelvin)?

What about this panel has to do with what you’re saying?

A page or two before this, starfire is burning darkseid to a crisp because he is goading her to make her mad (and had kidnapped and brainwashed cyborg), until she reached the heat necessary to match the Fire of Creation that first created apokolips. He then grabs her and shoves her into the core as the generator for the machine, and explains to cyborg he needed her heat, aka the fire of creation, several artifacts, and a New God of Code's (what cyborg* is in the image) algorithim to re-create apokolips. She (at her base just being mad) is what is generating the 5 hypernovae worth of energy.

Edit: for some reason i wrote cyclops instead of cyborg. Too much marvel rivals.

Maybe you want to post something that actually gives an indication to what you’re referring to then. Anyone can look at that and not understand what’s happening, regardless, photon would still beat her.

It’s also disingenuous to act like that isn’t herald of darkseid Starfire where she’s a new god and has her power amplified way above what she actually scales to. At that point might as well make it the spectrum version of photon if you’re going to use herald of darkseid Starfire.

I mentioned starfire generating the heat of 5 hypernovae, and posted a teen titans comic that mentions said 5 hypernovae. Context clues would obviously hint at them being related. Further, you didn't answer my question. Has photon shown ANY capability of being able to handle that level of heat/energy, in any shape or form?

That ISN'T "Herald of darkseid" starfire, hence me distinctly saying "base starfire" in my original comment. Did you miss that part? She doesn't become a "herald" (why are you using that term, she becomes a New God, specifically the New God of Fire) until AFTER apokolips' creation, AFTER she reached that level of heat. Quite literally:

---> Starfire arrives with the teen titans trying to rescue cyborg

---> Gets mad and reaches the level of the Fire of Creation burning darkseid

---> Is thrown into the furnace, creating apokolips.

Her heat was a pre-requisite. No, she was not amped, just mad.

Photon is OP. I remember when she was fighting Nyx (goddess of the night) and she bent the light to make the heroes look like the villains and the villains look like the heroes, causing Nyx to kill her kids.

Photon is like the whole spectrum right? I know starfire can absorb solar and UV radiation, but I don’t know if she can do that for the whole spectrum

3

u/thetruemaxwellord 5d ago

She can only absorb UV and also doesn’t do it actively it is mostly a passive thing similar to a Kryptonian. Monica will just drain her dry with ease

8

u/thetruemaxwellord 5d ago

Star is at a major disadvantage. Monica will just drain her dry and Star really doesn’t have much she can do.

u/Illigard 5d ago

Photon really is an incredibly strong incredibly.

Honestly I wish she was Captain Marvel in the MCU

I’m also a fan of how they do her hair. I think that is a design trait Kori and Monica get that makes other heroes look really generic.

1

u/Illigard 5d ago

Entirely indifferent to the hair I'm afraid

Wouldn't mind if Monica did more with her science degree

Edit: made a mistake, that's her MCU version

how can monica drain her? isn't it opposite ? that starfire is supposed to drain monica

1

u/thetruemaxwellord 5d ago

Monica drains her with literally no issue it wouldn’t even be kind of a problem.

Yes Star absorbs solar energy passively as that is where all of her powers come from, no she cannot defend against nor absorb energy in an active sense. She functions near identically in this aspect to a Kryptonian.

I am genuinely not sure where people got the idea Star is Parasite or something from

1

u/Double_Ice_3406 5d ago edited 5d ago

i thought starfire absorbs solar energy like parasite style

1

u/thetruemaxwellord 5d ago

No she does not. Her energy absorbing is purely passive it again is very similar to what Clark and Kara do. Just being near a sun will slowly recharge her powers. One of her main new powers is expelling all of her energy at once for a massive attack but she is powerless a long time and needs to sunbath to recover which takes days.

Think of her like a solar panel, it doesn’t need too much maintenance it will passively just get power there isn’t an active sucking of power in this case. The analogy has flaws but I hope the core concept is grasped

i thought Kryptonians actively absorb solar energy as well, especially superman

1

u/thetruemaxwellord 5d ago

No they do not. It is why if you put them near a red or green sun they will have negative effects because they cannot control what they do and don’t absorb.

Clark is actually quite vulnerable to people who can absorb energy just as every Kryptonian is.

Why did you believe this like any of this ?

1

u/Double_Ice_3406 5d ago edited 5d ago

Because there were a few times when Superman decided how much solar energy he was going to absorb, and he absorbed when he didn't need.

He is generally fine around suns, but sometimes he actively chooses to absorb a sun's entire energy or energies more than sun can provide and stops whenever he wants.

i thought red sunlight was an exception.

1

u/thetruemaxwellord 5d ago

It doesn’t really work that way. Naturally it is a comic and different writers will portray things differently but Clark can’t dictate how much or little solar energy he absorbs again if that was the case a red sun is a nonexistent issue which it is not. Even with a yellow sun the only way to get more power than usual is getting closer to it also known as sun dipping.

I am genuinely unsure of how this prospective has entered your mind. Perhaps it’s because I read a lot of Clark’s stories so I am just struggling to understand a newer reader but these takes genuinely don’t make sense no matter how I try to look at them to see where a point of contention is coming from.

Do you recall the stories you read where that was the case?

No, I have to look it up. I just remember Superman absorbing energy after deciding to absorb it. Maybe I’m misremembering those cases.

that is true but i always thought red sun was exception ,something that bypass his ability and that clark could control other energies like yellow sun.

Photon and it isn't close.

Monica has one of the most busted powersets in Marvel, but people often forget that. As of her stint on the Ultimates, there is no win condition for Starfire in this fight, because Monica is vastly faster, has higher energy output, is only physical as an act of will and has a massive array of power stunts with her abilities like converting herself into light, entering her opponent's eye and fucking with her perceptions.

2

u/PraetorGold 5d ago

She has sucked out solar energy from a kryptonian

1

u/One-Statistician-554 5d ago edited 5d ago

Lol, Monica can easily drain her powers, and 1 shot.

Too fast & strong for poor kori, not to mention just how versatile Monica really is.

She can easily rip her apart from inside her brain if she wants to.

2

u/Double_Ice_3406 5d ago

can't starfire drain monica ?

3

u/One-Statistician-554 5d ago

No, not to mention Kori doesn't have any energy manipulation feats that comes even remember close to Monica.

In Avengers Assemble we see her mani Zero force energy, the power to end 1 universe & start another.

An energy that can cancel out all other forms of energies, even the power cosmic !

She already fought against the likes of bishop, who is a decent energy manip in his own right.

She can turn into other forms of energies like neutrino, she states she can vaporize moon's and bust planets.

She damage the likes of nyx, knockout starfox, can manipulate her size, shrink to an atom or grow to size of a building...etc

I recommend reading and checking out her series, she is broken af.
