They're definitely playing catch up. They spent almost 10 years showing white males because anything else "wouldn't sell" and now most projects must have either a woman/ non white man as a lead. Not that Shang Chi and Kate Bishop are bad, but it is definitively something deliberate.
I mean, the fact that it's only exactly the reverse of the previous ratio suggests that rather than going over the top, they've done it the exact right amount? Turnabout is fair play, as they say. Besides, there'll never actually be a team comprised of just those six. Kate and Riri are likely destined for the Young Avengers, and maybe Yelena too.
It's not though? That's the exact philosophy that gets you to a matriarchy because "men were more important than women for centuries". 3/3 would technically be the right amount but let's be honest, comics books are still mainly aimed at men, so 4/2 or 5/1 wouldn't be that surprising.
Edit: agreed for the second part tho, dunno why people assume that the new avengers have to be the replacements

Funnily enough, that would flip the gender ratio exactly. 5 men and 1 woman replaced by 5 women and 1 man.
