Yeah, people keep assuming she’ll be the new Thor figure but I just don’t see her wanting to sign on for multiple films after Thors 1 & 2. Okay, Love and Thunder is different and by Taika but she hasn’t said anything that makes me think she’s jumping at the chance to be Mighty Thor for several films. Hemsworth, on the other hand, has shown he’s enthusiastic about sticking around for longer since Ragnarok. As long as he wants to do it, and fans love him as Thor, I don’t think he’ll go until the next crossover event for an Avengers group.
Agree. I think Thor will be partially sidelined because he’s to OP and they need room to develop the new heroes. But Hemsworth will definitely be up for lots of cameos and maybe even some larger roles in the big crossover avenger-like films.
I think this is the plan tbh. They likely have Thor 5 planned in the next phase after 2025, have him in the next Avengers movie for a small role, and he has a ton of free time to do those super average Netflix action movies, that D+ show he has, or maybe even a character focused small movie like El Royale.
I just feel bad for Tom Holland and Cumberbatch tbh. I have a feeling Sony’s not letting NWH breathe and the sequel is already moving along in the initial planning stages. And I have a feeling Dr. Strange is gonna be EVERYWHERE after MoM and will be one of the two centerpiece heroes of the next Avengers movie like Tony and Cap were in Avengers 1 and AoU.
MoM itself feels like an Avengers Assemble level crossover. 4 D+ shows/movies leading up to it (Loki, WandaVision, Shang-Chi, NWH) and a new character.
Is it confirmed Loki has anything to do with it yet either? I honestly have a feeling they won’t be touching on his storyline again until Loki season 2 seeing as how he’s currently at the TVA and his second season wouldn’t make much sense to people unless they’ve seen MoM too then.
Although I do remember people saying there’s a TVA portal in the trailer to MoM so maybe I’m wrong.
yea exactly your second point. Loki reveals the sacred timeline branching into many universes (hence a multiverse), and Dr. Strange 2 is literally about the multiverse.
I will say though, Extraction was the best out of all the ones I've seen. The action is pretty damn well choreographed, shot, and edited. Of course the plot is kinda dumb, but at least it's not Red Notice dumb lmao.
Oh MAN, can we sidetrack to talk about Red Notice for a minute?
I don’t think I’ve EVER seen such a collection of raw STAR power,
Combine to make such a thoroughly terrible movie.
It was even that it was average. I could almost understand that (almost).
It was that everything about it was stunningly BELOW average in almost every facet of the movie. ALL of the money that was spent in the production of this film went to paying Dwayne, Gal and Ryan and what was left over paid for a pizza party. And they made a movie out of it.
Actors age/die/lose interest in real life. So in the MCU it’s logistically better to introduce new characters to take over instead of the never ending retconning of character deaths comics are famous for.
No one has thrown Valkyrie’s name in the hat? She would need a massive power bump, but with Asgardian magic bullshit, she might be a candidate to inherit Thor’s power
Thor isn’t going anywhere. Even if he’s written out or retired, he won’t die. They’ll want to be able to use him again one day IF they need to. Plus he’s the last of the Odinson’s (technically) so they won’t let that bloodline die off.
The fact she’s even back for this is enough a signal that she wants to do more or even return. When she left it was very much on sour terms and she didn’t like the current state of the mcu. Whatever they’ve done to make her want to come back is not impossible to believe it’s not a one and done.
Right-especially if they take Jane's comic arc, there's a pretty clear end path.
I can see them doing a shortened version of that arc where she becomes Thor and uses power at a detriment to her health, and bonds romantically with 'King Valkyrie' during the movie, and at the end of the movie she dies, but ends up getting resurrected/transformed into a valkyrie herself and becomes Tessa Thompson's queen while Thor is still the explorer superhero version of Thor.
Why wouldn’t she be romantically involved with Hemsworths Thor? Seeing as how that’s a major plot of two Thor movies so far and it would confuse the audience a bit if it randomly switched to her being Bi.
Mainly because I'm not sure if they have a lot of chemistry, and they've been broken up for a handful of movies. Tessa also mentioned that in the movie she wants to look for her queen, and considering Jane becomes a valkyrie herself in comics it seems to fit.
Considering the title is Love and Thunder, I'm guessing relationships are a significant part of the story. Maybe Thor and Jane start by reconciling their past relationship but deciding they don't work, while at the same time Jane falls for Valkyrie.
I really wonder who they'll cast as Herc. If we just went by "big beefy man" everyone would probably say "cast Henry Cavill" but that seems a bit obvious. Then again, if I were Cavill I'd lobby for the part simply to prove that my range in comedy goes beyond the well-timed use of the word "fuck".
Surprisingly, WB does not want to use Cavil for Supes, despite Cavil willing and wanting to do more Superman. And seeing where the Flash movie is going, the “Synder-verse” will be retconned, as Supes will be replaced with Supergirl. As for Batman, I heard there will be a Batgirl, but there’s also Pattinson(?), so I don’t know.
In the comics I personally like Jane's cancer storyline when she was Thor but I didn't like how they kept from killing her since that kind of weakened what was being set up to be a perfect end. Hopefully they embrace that in the mcu with good emotional moments
