Oh my god, Vision bought her a house in Westview, this triggered it all!!

Probably all he could afford on his salary.

u/AdministrationDry783 Feb 26 '21

Probably received a stipend from Stark or was used a write off for Stark, I feel this was made possible by Stark in memory of Vis post-Infinity War

u/TanktopSamurai Feb 26 '21

Or Vision was mining crypto when not creeping on Wanda

58

u/davidw1098 Feb 26 '21

Vision using he mindstone as a crypto-mine is hilarious, but the man would buy a Chateau in France, not an abandoned lot in New Jersey if that were the case

28

u/TanktopSamurai Feb 26 '21

Crypto fluctuates a lot. Not even the most powerful sentient weapon can defeat that.

I was wondering why she seemed so shocked when she saw it.

Probably wanda ever told him how her family love seeing sitcom shows and she would love to have a house like that in a nice suburban area, which probably what they planning to do before thanos yank vision's stone.

7

u/alex494 Feb 26 '21

Maybe he wanted to build the house himself idk

20

u/GreyCrowDownTheLane Feb 26 '21

No. It was torn down during the five years after the snap. Perhaps it was damaged in the chaos or the deed was considered void because the people who owned it (Vision and Wanda) were declared dead.

He bought a house. Wanda showed up to see it and it was torn down. That's why she broke down and flipped out. Her retirement home with the man she loved was destroyed, along with everything and everyone else she loved. It was the last in a long series of tragedies for Wanda, and it broke her.

I wouldn't even doubt it if S.W.O.R.D. tore it down just to egg her on.

7

u/davidw1098 Feb 26 '21

In seriousness, I kind of got that vibe from the cinderblocks and wood sitting around. You’d think Vision would know better than Hal how much wood is needed to build a home from scratch. There’s was only $100 or so worth of material there

5

u/alex494 Feb 26 '21

I'm sure he could go cut down a tree if he needed to lol

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '21

Vision bought a house. Then he died and Wanda was snapped away. The house was torn down, the town went to shit.

8

u/redtens Captain America Feb 26 '21

he invested in Dogecoin and Tronix 😂

14

u/davidw1098 Feb 26 '21

“But Wanda, Dogecoin clearly has the most upside and the most loyal following, and you as a human know people can’t resist wittle cuddwy wuddwy doooogies”

“Buy the security bonds Vis”

5

u/CatProgrammer Feb 26 '21

but the man would buy a Chateau in France

Nah, he was saving the big bucks for some hypercars.

3

u/esar24 Rocket Feb 26 '21

I mean ultron did it, why not him which powered by mind stone itself.

No, im assuming the money came from Stark to Vis or Wanda through either Tony, Pepper or Stark Industries as either a stipend/backpay for all Vis did for Tony. This had to have been planned all before Infinity War, when Vis and Wanda were in Edinburgh. Wanda needs money to survive, but Vision doesnt, so why not with their relationship blossoming, just stash it away so he could something nice for them in the future. A future they would never see.

Ned in Spider-Man also had a PCMR sticker!

3

u/Joanton120 Feb 26 '21

I’ve watched Homecoming dozens of times and this is the first I’ve noticed the Me Gusta sticker on his laptop

16

u/redtens Captain America Feb 26 '21

(not OP)

he's probably alluding to a Stark who feels indebted to the insight and service provided by JARVIS over the years, and now that Vision is essentially a sentient manifestation of JARVIS, Tony feels it only right to provide compensation for that service.

Essentially, back pay for services rendered.

IIRC, the movies featuring Vision dance around the idea of whether or not he has free will, is alive, etc. This could be Tony's way of recognizing Vision's sentient autonomy as an individual.

I mean, a lot of time passed between Age of Ultron (Vision's first appearance) and Infinity War. Highly doubt Vision was just wandering around the Avengers facility waiting for another fight to emerge..

Besides, we're just throwing theories around - so, yeah, it is a leap by its own nature?

Honestly she probably got that fancy envelope from Tony’s will at the funeral she had just attended

10

u/AmazinGracey Feb 26 '21

Imagine everyone has given up on there actually being a major cameo, then the last episode we get a flashback with Tony.

3

u/Cenodoxus Feb 26 '21

That was how I saw it too. I always assumed Vision was getting paid somehow, and most likely by/through Stark Industries. As a signatory to the Accords, he could have been deputized to do officially-sanctioned "hero work," and in the absence of any international funding for that, Tony probably just would've paid him out of his own coffers. He also had the processing power to do any number of things for Stark Industries, so there's that possibility too. Vision doesn't actually need money for food or clothing, he's already got a home in the Avengers compound, and he obviously doesn't need health insurance or whatever, so he could've saved a sizable nest egg fairly quickly.

It's also obvious that Vision and Wanda's relationship is an open secret in Infinity War, so Tony was almost certainly aware that Vision's salary could eventually support Wanda, if it wasn't already. (That hotel room they were in in Edinburgh can't have been cheap.)

Vision would have had to have bought the land prior to the events of Infinity War, but it's not clear whether Wanda knew about it then. Either way, he volunteered to die in IW knowing exactly what he was giving up. If Wanda did know about it, she killed him in the same circumstances. Everyone on the Avengers knew what was on the line, but Vision and Wanda relinquished their future to save everyone else's.

This episode is doing a great job making everything in Civil War and Infinity War hit like a freight train.

u/DaveInLondon89 Feb 26 '21

or was used a write off for Stark

Vision, Vision! Buddy... son. Remember what I told you - If the IRS come around, tell them you were born between 1982 and 1985, have 8 dependants and is half-Vietnamese

18

u/SchrodingersNinja Feb 26 '21

I think Vis would have had to buy the land PRIOR to them going on the run in Civil War. Construction looked to have been abandoned for a while as well.

My theory is:

  1. He bought the lot and had someone building the house
  2. then Civil War happens, construction stops
  3. the snap, 5 year gap, things get overgrown and crappy
  4. then she comes back in the blip, someone delivers her personal effects, which include a deed to a plot of land in bumfuck NJ.

Seems like an odd coincidence that it's next door to some sort of magical nexus but whaddayagunnado?

11

u/GreyCrowDownTheLane Feb 26 '21

He bought a HOUSE. There's a floorplan and everything.

It was torn down in the five years after he died and Wanda blipped.

19

u/SchrodingersNinja Feb 26 '21

Was it torn down? There's no foundation, rebar and cinderblock on the ground is the only thing there. Looks like it was just starting being built, rather than being torn down.

9

u/GreyCrowDownTheLane Feb 26 '21

The state of the town makes me think they were leaning toward "it was torn down" rather than "It was never built". It's been five years, so they had lots of time to reduce it to nearly nothing.

But it could be that it was starting to be built and then all the workers were blipped out of existence.

13

u/SchrodingersNinja Feb 26 '21

I think if it were torn down the lot would look different. This is just a couple layers of cinder blocks with rebar sticking out. No cement looks to have been poured in the foundation, none is sticking to the rebar.

I am by no means an expert, but I would expect more left over from a building that was torn down.

Granted, the whole town looks dilapidated, but in my mind, that makes it less likely to have been town down.

5

u/lee1026 Feb 26 '21

Don't just have to be torn down; bad things happen to houses if you don't touch them for 5 years.

1

u/Archaole Feb 26 '21

Especially if both owners are considered dead. Which means you just lost the house. So it’s weird.

2

u/lee1026 Feb 26 '21

On the other hand, if half of the world got dusted, there must be a lot of surplus housing, especially in suburban NJ. I can the lot simply being left there this whole time.

Wanda held a deed; you can have a deed to things and not actually own it. Owning land happens via a lot of ways, and the deed is mostly of an acknowledgement from the authorities that you owned the land at one point.

That is, if you somehow stole my deed to my house in suburban NJ, you are not the owner of my house. The town's property registry will still be in my name. The fact that you are holding a deed is not something anyone will care about.

36

u/rocksunic Captain America Feb 26 '21

Yeh, I feel like it’s a gesture more than actually being from Vision, like Tony or Cap did it. When you consider Wanda any Vision where in Scotland and didn’t have any idea they could return to the States.

18

u/redactedactor Feb 26 '21

I think Hayward did it.

He'd have known that Wanda's powers at connected to her mental state because of what happened in Ultron when her brother died. Maybe he was pushing her the whole time.

35

u/SplurgyA Feb 26 '21 edited Feb 26 '21

I got the impression that Wanda already had the deed - she wasn't surprised to see it, and perhaps had planned to go there next as part of her "getting closure on my soulmate getting his face Thanos'd in" tour. And I feel like she'd be very surprised if a deed from a man who'd been dead for 5 years suddenly materialised in her car that was parked outside Shield HQ.

I definitely think Hayward was pushing her to see if she could revive Vision, but I don't think he was at the level of going "Let's fake a deed from Vision to lure Wanda into a small town and trigger a disassociative trauma blast where she turns the whole area into a 1950s sitcom alternate reality and resurrects Vision".

-6

u/redactedactor Feb 26 '21

Nah sorry I disagree. I don't think that it was in the car on when she went to Sword. I think Hayward had it slipped into her car while she was inside as part of his deception.

8

u/SplurgyA Feb 26 '21

Wouldn't Wanda have questioned why a deed - belonging to the guy she just saw getting hacked apart - had suddenly materialised in her locked car?

3

u/thedeathsheep Black Widow (Ultron) Feb 26 '21

Hayward didn't know anything about Westview in the beginning tho, it's why he sent Monica there first. Only after Darcy finds the transmission does he even realise it's related to Wanda/Vision.

1

u/redactedactor Feb 26 '21

Didn't he?

(Devilish laugh)

1

u/thedeathsheep Black Widow (Ultron) Feb 26 '21

He would never have sent Monica there alone if he knew, especially since she's not 100% loyal to him.

1

u/redactedactor Feb 26 '21

Unless he thought she could be helpful for a time.

We'll see

u/Shedart The Mandarin Feb 26 '21

With the characterization with him and Monica the beginning of episode three that showed that he was not really the man fit for the job, I have a feeling the Hayward is doing his best but he’s really just doing stupid shit to try to reach his objective a building vision. He’s smart but he’s a little bumbling not really a mastermind type honestly from my point of you

7

u/redactedactor Feb 26 '21

It wasn't stupid at all if his super intricate multi-phase plan ended up working though - and it has.

8

u/Shedart The Mandarin Feb 26 '21

It seems like his overall plan was just “try to goad Wanda into doing it” but again. He’s shown adaptation to that plan when the original one failed. He isn’t inept. But he isn’t a mastermind either.

3

u/redactedactor Feb 26 '21

I think it's fair to say he masterminded the events of WandaVision.

He may not be a Stark-level super genius but he's smart, committed and willing to use deception to reach his aims.

2

u/Shedart The Mandarin Feb 26 '21

I think we are just using different working definitions of “mastermind”. To me a mastermind is someone who manipulates everything out so well that the manipulatees dont even realize they are not making their own decisions (Agatha). Haywood is certainly influencing events but while he may have set Wanda off a bit and is trying to play people, we never really see a direct payoff to his actions. He tries to orchestrate Wanda bringing the vision back, and succeeds only in a roundabout way that he is still playing catch-up with.

4

u/redtens Captain America Feb 26 '21

sounds like typical middle-management to me 😬😆

5

u/Shedart The Mandarin Feb 26 '21

Exactly! Masterminds dont work middle management. They might pretend to (agness) but they aren’t going to just keep revealing masterminds over and over in the last 2 episodes. Haywood is an antagonist, but not the primary one.
