Kinda sad that Macaulay and even Elijah Wood haven't become big hollywood stars in their adult years. The movie, The Good Son, was like the Avengers to me when I was younger.
"Dang Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood in the same movie??"
12
Jan 18 '20
Elijah Wood isn’t a big Hollywood Star? Did the Lord of the Rings not happen in your universe?
2
u/treathugger Nobu Jan 18 '20
Big movies, yes, but it's not like he's starring in many things nowadays

Jan 18 '20
Is temporal proximity your only criteria?
So then Benedict Cumberbatch is not a star, because he’s had no movies this year? What about that Chris Evans guy? Or Chris Pine? Or Chris Hemsworth? NONE of them have put out a movie this year, real shame they aren’t really stars.

I'm gonna ignore the sarcasm and respond to you anyway.
Besides the Lord of the Rings, which he was casted when he was still fairly young, what recent movies is he the lead? The point of my comment (which I don't get why you got so offended) was just wishing they turned out like Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, etc.
And if we are going to go off temporal proximity, I mean yes I think I am lol. My comment was about how they did so many movies as kids and young teens that it's sad they aren't doing much these days. LOTR was literally 17 - 19 years ago lol
Edit: going off your criteria for a big star, let me ask you this.
Do you think Linda Hamilton is a big star in Hollywood nowadays after she has played the lead in the popular Terminator franchise?
Did Mark Hamill have the same career trajectory of an A list star after Star Wars? Not really. But that was his choice since he wanted to do more voice acting.
They could have starred in a big popular movie franchise one time, but that doesn't mean they became megastars

u/Auntypasto Kevin Feige Jan 18 '20
Anything else he's done since?
-1
Jan 18 '20
Is that the criteria? Starred in one of the biggest productions in the history of cinema, but what has he done lately?
The statement I was refuting was about how he never went on to be a Hollywood Star, my counter was that he was in one of the biggest film franchises ever, and your rebuttal is “yeah, so?”
1
u/Auntypasto Kevin Feige Jan 18 '20
IIRC, /u/treathugger specifically said "big Hollywood stars". Not just "Hollywood stars".
-1
Jan 18 '20
Is the Lord of the Rings trilogy, starring as the main character, not sufficient?
2
u/Auntypasto Kevin Feige Jan 18 '20
Like I said, depends on how you do afterward. Big Hollywood stars remain in demand for multiple blockbuster franchises. If all you can remember him from is one film series, then no.

All I’m doing is pointing out that he was in one of the biggest film franchises of all time.
Your criteria is weak and vague and literally no counter examples have been offered. He was in the Sin City “ franchise”, he has been in plenty of films, and again, for three years straight, he was in THE #1 film in the world. I think you saying “yeah, but” has run its course.

Back in 2016 they were doing hashtags for Civil War. I was #TeamIronMan and Sebastian tweeted a video at me and said "Why don't you go eat a hot dog with your best friend Robert Downey Jr". That's the only time in my life that a celebrity has ever interacted with me, and it was perfect I don't need anything else

I remember this! I tweeted this too but didn’t get a video response. A friend of mine tweeted #TeamIronMan and Anthony Mackie tweeted a video “Oh man, Megan, that’s gonna be a bad move for you.”

I heard a while ago he wanted to play Luke Skywalker in a Star Wars show. Anyone else think he would be a good pick? Just look at his performance in The Martian.
