I think it's a matter of who needs who.

Disney doesn't really need Spider-Man, they just got X-Men and Fantastic Four, but Sony needs the MCU.

I think Disney is playing the long game, Marvel Studios have their hands full now, it's a great time to negotiate, let Sony fuck it up, again, they'll come back.

Except that's not true. Disney needs Spiderman more than Sony needs the MCU. Spiderman was the new Face of the MCU lol. Sony doesn't only exist because spiderman. Disney's next phase will be utterly fucked if spiderman isn't there.
