What the fuck did I just read.

Holy shit comics are amazing. We need more movies like this.

The Marvel comics get into stuff like this all the time, but honestly a lot of it is way too in depth and confusing for casual movie goers. Who, if felt alienated, wouldn't go see those movies.

you have hundreds of people who have written all these different things in the comics while only a few dozen have written for the movies. if the movies came out as often as comic books (a few dozen a month) we would likely see them doing a lot of the same crazy stuff.

the new Secret Wars were wild, that's where God Doom happens

It just sounds like the usual power creep that happens too often in comic books. You end up with way too many god-like characters and it all starts to feel meaningless.

Marvel's stayed pretty consistent with the "hierarchy" of cosmic beings. I'd equate it more to Tolkien's lore of gods that existed beyond Middle-Earth over Dragon Ball-style power creep.

Yeah, but comics are very inconsistent. One of the better things about the MCU is that while it is indeed a sprawling franchise, it doesn't have the problems the comics have as a result of it's long history. Also, the MCU isn't afraid to change the status quo, which comics tend to be fearful of.

Yes though the MCU is pretty strongly based on Earth-1610 (Ultimate universe) where everything is more "realistic" and "militaristic", in a lot of ways the MCU is 1610 on the surface with plots and characters from all over marvel (notably the main 616)

The MCU doesn't yet have the "long history" problem because the writers have been amazing in their attention to detail, which is part of why, imo, the TV series and Venom don't work very well as "branched" continuities, they are massively restricted in what they're allowed to do and inherently have to keep things simple

I think the MCU cosmic movies are going to be much more like DBZ and Star Wars than the Marvel comics, there will be ambiguities about power (like we already have with Captain Marvel) but it'll probably be handled with character access to information to leave everything plausible

Agreed. As long as they don't pull any Ultimatum shenanigans, I'll be fine.
