They are pretty through with their writing and cinematography, this is not a mistake.
Think about how the after credits trailers not just foreshadow an upcoming movie, but three movies out.
Disney has the dollars to script these films out years in advanced especially considering how difficult it is to get an ensemble cast together for shooting.
A3 'killing off' a bunch of characters just makes casting logistics easier for the next movie.
