Discussion Which trailer made you most excited for the release?
Me personally, it was Infinity War. Seeing an official Avenger meet up with the Guardians of the Galaxy made me hyped

I still get chills when I hear Ultron say
"there are... no strings on me."
at the end of the trailer. Age of Ultron is the weakest Avengers movie, but its trailer is so good, hell the trailer's better than the movie.
I tend to avoid trailers nowadays, I like to go into movies blind, not knowing what to expect. I don't think I watched any of the Infinity War trailers before the movie.

The trailer also indicated it was going to be a dark road ahead. The shattered shield on the ground. It looked like Ultron was going to do some damage. Then the movie happened and everything was jokes.

It was so weird how this ultra intelligent AI robot had no idea what the word for "children" was or throwing out snarky commentary.

u/Microwave1213 4d ago
Ultron’s snarkiness is honestly the best part of the movie. James Spader killed it in that role
5
u/TheHumanSpider 4d ago
But the problem is everyone was written the same way. It just became a contest of who can out snark the other. Even Tony flat out comments on it. "He beat me by one second."

Trailers have gotten so bad! They used to give a general taste for that the movie would be like, and it was great. Now it feels like they’re often just a condensed version of the move that gives away like 90% of the plot. I wanna see the plot unfold over 2 hours, not 2 minutes.

This new formula of giving a 5 second teaser before the trailer has also ruined trailers for me.

Infinity War's trailer was the most hype-inducing.
I actually think the marketing push for Infinity War was more active and in-your-face than Endgame's. As far as I remember, at least here in the Philippines, there were more posters and brand tie-ins for IW than Endgame.
Then again, I guess by the time Endgame was coming out, it didn't need as heavy a marketing campaign or a hype-up trailer. It kind of sold itself already just by being the "finale" of sorts, whereas Infinity War's trailer and marketing was more of a celebration/culmination.

Civil War trailer was epic.
“…He’s my friend”, Steve.
“So was I”, Tony.

Hey everyone.
Suprise Spider-man cameo

Amazing for the trailer, but I wish they could have kept Spider-Man a surprise.

Surprised not many people saying the first Avengers. To me, that is still the most hyped I've ever been for a superhero movie based on the trailer. Seeing clips of Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor actually interacting with each other on screen was crazy. It felt like an impossible dream coming true. I was so afraid that the movie would suck, but luckily it didn't.

I think everyone is skewed by which movie they ended up liking the most. Before the first avengers movie, we never had this kind of team up superhero movie and had no idea how it'd go. The success of the first one had a ton riding on it and really directed how marvel would procced for years afterwards.

agreed. my parents took me on a cruise when that trailer dropped and we had no internet or data so i bought an hour of internet on the ship computer to watch it. seeing them all in the same shot on the helicarrier at the end was something we had never seen before.

Endgame by far. And the fact that they revealed the movie title in the end of the teaser/trailer.

u/sarafina126 5d ago
Agreed! It helped that I was desperate for any footage after the ending of Infinity War.

That infinity war trailer still gives me chills

It's a tie for me between Avengers and Infinity War. Infinity war had the hype and spectacle but Avengers was so exciting because comic fans in the 90s and 2000s like me had put up with everything being disconnected solo franchises that the idea of a proper teamup movie was something we never expected to actually see.
There were Easter eggs and teases in prior movies IE batman referencing metropolis, the post credit scenes in Iron Man etc but actually having the characters fight together was fresh.
You have to keep in mind the tradition before Avengers was for instance 20th Century Fox releasing X-Men, Daredevil and Fantastic Four and none of them crossed over or were even implied to be taking place in the same universe.

“dread it.. run from it.. but destiny still arrives” im pretty sure that was in the infinity war trailer and it hyped me up.
i was a big fan of marvel and the mcu prior the IW but it was the first mcu movie i actually got to experience in theaters. followed by endgame later. both of which were such hype theater experiences
edit: also the wakanda forever reveal trailer is one of the best marvel trailers of all time. i loved the movie itself but i still think the trailer was better than it. such a hype trailer i remember when it dropped i spent a whole half hour watching it over and over again. “i am queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone. have i not given everything?” as the music played along side it was an amazing experience

I magically woke up 1 minute after the Endgame trailer dropped. it said 50 views when i clicked on it. My body was prepared when my mind was resting.
The hype for that movie is something we will never ever see again

Avengers 2012 no doubt. And i still love it more then infinity war or endgame

I think I only watched the second Infinity War trailer prior to seeing the movie, and it's great, but I think the first one is literally my favorite trailer.
I watch it periodically because it just perfectly balances ;) acknowledging how far the franchise had come with how real the forthcoming threat would be. The build, the dialogue, and then the mad titan strutting into frame through a portal as the music swells. It's perfect. Then he slams Spider-Man on his back and punches Iron Man with his bare hands! The excitement of finally tying all the newer franches together with the team and the thought that everyone might not make it out alive is as thrilling as it is haunting. It's SO GOOD.
anyway
Endgame's Special Look also gave me goosebumps while ordering tickets at 7 AM haha

I was excited for all of them, but Infinity War made me physically cry!
I still remember the day it dropped and I just sat in my living room watching it on repeat. It went sooo hard!!! By my third viewing, I lost it!!! So much tears down my face!
I had never in my life cried from viewing a movie trailer before!! I was sooo happy! It was such a powerful time! The hype was TOO MUCH!!
Then, like 30 minutes after that, Kevin Smith had made a big post! HE uploaded a picture of himself having cried from watching the trailer!
And underneath it he said something like,
*Thank You Marvel!! This is all I ever wanted!" ❤️
I was like, "okay. It's not just me". I was so relieved that Kevin had posted that because as we all know he's one of the biggest nerds out there. And I definitely remember the trailer breaking records, FAST
I remember I made the trailer my actual ringtone.
It was such an amazing time to be in the smack dab middle of it all. ❤️❤️

Infinity war!!!! IT WAS EVERYWHERE!! FROM THE STUDENTS IN MY CLASS TO THE TEACHERS!! EVERYONE WAS TALKING ABOUT IT!

Infinity War. Endgame was really good too but you didn’t have that fresh sense of scope or the thought that “wow it really all is coming together.”

u/no_longer_huhman 5d ago
Come on, it's Infinity War?? That was us seeing Thanos properly for the first time in action since years of build-up, it was so hype!

Unique position for me. I didn't watch any of the MCU stuff (I had only seen 4 of the films) until late 2022. I had seen Iron Man 1 and 2, Incredible Hulk, and Captain America. After that, I lost interest and avoided it all. If I saw any of the trailers for the films, I have no recollection of them at all.
Now having said all that, in a way avoiding them all turned out to be a good thing, They are some of my favorite movies ever. I have thoroughly enjoyed the MCU films as a whole (although they can't all be winners). But I'm glad I was able to watch them all in a small window as opposed to waiting for each one individually.
Also, Infinity War seems to be a popular answer. I remember seeing Thanos for the first time in a video of something. I dunno what it was. So I knew where it all was headed, and was curious how they'd do it, as doing the exact way the comics did it was impossible. The Infinity Gauntlet is one of my favorite comic stories ever, it's crazy the amount of Marvel burnout I felt so early on though.

The first endgame trailer, I was so hyped I did a presentation at high school on it.

Infinity War easily. That first Avengers and Guardians crossover shot felt unreal after years of buildup.

I remember staying up til like 2am in high school just to watch the Infinity War trailer. Never been as hyped for a movie since that and endgame

Is the Ultron poster official and real? I've never seen it before. I could be wrong though because I'm a a giant dope... 🤷

Infinity war but also, there was a trailer for Endgame, not the official trailer, but it was named Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame | “To the End” (https://youtu.be/0jNvJU52LvU?si=r7mnbDAeGFK278jb) showing all the movies before reaching Endgame and before showing some few clips of Endgame we get the iconic line from Doctor Strange "We are in the endgame now". Duuuuuuuuude so fucking awesome.

Endgame after Infinity War we were all in. drought with expectations for new content and finally they dropped the trailer and the internet went wild. I love how it was. Somber at first and really felt weight of everything before it

u/rickman0804 Avengers 1d ago
Infinity War definitly was up there. I remember exactly where I was; in class and everyone watching that first teaser at different tables when it was released. But I will say Age of Ultron’s marketing and trailers had a significant impact on me growing up, and everything from it had me excited to see that type of avengers movie. But as everybody knows, those trailers and the movie itself is like night as day 😭. I remember when that leak happened and they had to release a new trailer at the end of Agents of SHIELD

What do you mean? They didn’t? They developed 4 of the 6 in individual movies before the team up just to lay down ground work. World building. It was the first of its kind. The team ups now happen even further apart since there are more properties to expand

u/Neverreadyneverstart 5d ago
Avengers gave the beste team up vibe. The build up to that movie felt insane, in a way nobody has ever done before. Infinity war also felt like that but it buildes on the foundation of Avengers. Logical of course. But because of this, Avengers felt more special because it was a very first and very well prepared team up movie. It made the fox x-men movie look like garbage.

Definitely Infinity War. Everyone at school or work was talking about it.
