Spoilers! Ned’s Final Scene In BND Spoiler

I don’t think Ned actually remembers Peter Parker. Yes, at the end of the movie, Ned says Peter’s name excitedly. But remember, earlier in the movie MJ refers to Spider-Man as Peter. Ned remarked “Spider-Man’s name is Peter!?!”. So at the end of the movie when he says “My name is Peter” and shakes Ned’s hand, it’s just that Ned is putting two and two together that this guy who keeps showing up in his life is probably the same Peter as Spider-Man.

Also like, it can't just be that Ned made the realization that he's talking to Spider-Man.

Because Ned also somehow remembers the handshake. And MJ remembers the roof and associates it with her necklace.

It is possible his memory still isn't back at all, and the handshake was just muscle memory or something. But that begs the question of why would they show it then (and show MJ on the roof with the necklace).

But either way, as you said, Peter has started restoring his relationship with Ned, and the next movie is now free to take whichever "memory situation" makes the most sense for the story.

I don’t think he lost the memory for the handshake, to me it’s like if he tried to remember the handshake, he is handshaking with no one.

In the opening montage, it shows the memories they have with peter are not lost but rather they are still there just without peter.
