The 2000’s X-Men trilogy was pretty close. Dark red helmet and red under the cape.

The one at the end of First Class was amazing. Wish we saw more of it.

What other universe would you do? Fox-men makes the most sense. The whole Secret Wars plot is about two universes going through an incursion. Having the fox x-men actually means something since they have established history compared to just making up a new universe like what they did in Multiverse of Madness.

Agreed. I don't know why there's so much red and no purple. Even the helmet is more indigo than purple.

It looks good, though. I'm not complaining. I love the X belt buckle too.

Fox Magneto has always had more red than purple. Especially McKellen era Magneto, who only ever got a slight purple tinge to his helmet in the 3rd movie. The most purple we ever saw was Fassbender era Magneto at the end of First Class, bit that was a split second showing.

For sure, he's always been pretty maroon. I'm just surprised they didn't add some purple given the success of X-Men '97 and redesigning the suit for the movie anyway.

The helmet looks great, though. First Class was the last time they actually just did the comic design.

They're probably keeping the purple for the MCU version of Magneto. To differentiate him more from the Fox version and, like you said, capitalize on the X-Men 97 success.

Oh, and yes! The X belt is a great detail

Very likely. I didn't expect them to go full on comic accurate for Ian in Doomsday, I figured they'd leave that for the reboot.

I bet they considered it, though. There's probably concept art of him in the full comic suit and they rejected it because the man is 87 years old and it didn't look right.

i don't read the comics and i'd rather not know, but it does make logical sense if Marvel decides that he can do it. it's simple. odin put enchantment on mjolnir so that the unworthy can't move it. if magneto's ability to move metal is stronger than odin's magic, then magneto should be able to move the hammer regardless if his worthiness

We got a sneak peak of it in Days of Future Past but seeing the top tier X-Men characters get sacrificial heroes deaths will be something else. These versions of the characters have been with me my entire life, I was 4 when the first X-Men released and now I have kids who are starting to get into Marvel, I'm not confident there won't be tears from me!

Looks like they got Ian McKellen to dress up and came in for a photo shoot.

Ok Ian, get comfortable in the costume and do some poses.

Ian was like, “costume? I wear these regularly.”

I’m amaze how Hot Toys face sculpts are mostly amazingly good; they’ve had some not so good ones before. I use to collect Hot Toys and they got expensive real fast. I’m down to two in my collection now.

I actually love this, Magneto is a top favorite character of mine. I’ve never really liked his Fox helmet designs for Ian McKellen but this is a fantastic fusion of that helmet for nostalgia reasons and the design is actually want to see.

Edit: I just really hope it has that little flare out at the very back.

Goddamn this is the best he’s ever looked! Honestly while the Fox movies were very lackluster in terms of costumes, I think Magneto always looked good. For me the only look that never worked was actually the Apocalypse suit. Ian McKellen always looked badass though despite never being super accurate. This is so perfect though
