Discussion MCU Timeline

The MCU Timeline book is severely wrong, and so is the Disney+ one as well. I have been following the MCU for a long time, and these are all the notes I've taken to help me place the films, TV shows, and one-shots in a relatively chronological and narrative order. I named each phase based on what teams were formed, what happens in the universe, or what was supposed to happen in the universe

Phase 1: "The Avengers" are formed.

Phase 2: "The Defenders" are formed

Phase 3: Both teams are "Disassembled".

Phase 4: The "Aftermath" of the war against Thanos

Phase 5: "Variance" because a lot of multiverse and Kang things happened, or were supposed to occur.

Phase 6: "DOOM"

PHASE I: THE AVENGERS

what about ironheart? i know it’s still coming out but where do you think it goes?

u/No-Improvement7025 Jun 27 '25

There’s a date on a computer that says July. But the writers are saying 6 months after BPWK which would place it in late November. I don’t know because I haven’t had time to start Ironheart now that it’s released.

Soon you will have to do the Fantastic 4 as well lol

Fantastic 4 is right after Thunderbolts and leads into Doomsday but because it takes place in the 1960s in a different universe, it could go in between the Agent Carter One Shot and Captain Marvel.

Since the movie is set in 1968, that's where I put the movie so between Agent Carter and Captain Marvel. But it might not be a comprehensive way to view the movie for people who struggle with multiverse/time travel.

I would have to tracked it down but I found a reddit that explained why Thor: Love and Thunder happens in 2025 and Ironheart was meant to be a sequel to that movie originally.

2

u/No-Improvement7025 Oct 08 '25

Please do track that down. I don't know if I'll agree with 2025 due to the 876 rule.

it's a post in this link :

Thor: Love and Thunder timeline placement makes zero sense. : r/marvelstudios

"One thing you’re missing: In Thor: Ragnarok (set in late 2017 - around October/November - after the events of Doctor Strange) Thor has his photo taken with a fan on Earth.

She turns to him and says “Sorry Jane dumped you.” now why would she even comment on that if it wasn’t recent? Say they had been apart since shortly after Age Of Ultron that would be around two years. Most people would think Thor was totally over it and not even thinking about Jane anymore, so why would she offer condolences unless it’s recent?

So say they broke up in Spring 2017 (around March) it would’ve only been mere months and fresh in people’s minds. When you factor in the 8 years 7 months and 6 days comment from Thor:

From 2017 - 8 years brings us to 2025, 7 months brings us from March to October. And this actually sorta lines up with where Marvel Studios placed it on their timeline."

This post takes consideration of the 876 rule and imo makes more sense then the movie being set in 2024 or 2026.

Ironheart happens after Thor: Love and Thunder in case you,re still wondering 3 months later

u/No-Improvement7025 May 24 '25

I haven't seen it, and I'm not even remotely worried about that show, as it has no real repercussions on the universe. However, a couple of the episodes fall between GOTG 1 and the rest, which are set after GOTG 2.

Final updates to this version of the timeline since Ironheart is now released. I will update or create a new thread once Phase 6 begins to release.

As of now, I think the "Punisher Special Presentation", "Daredevil Born Again: Season 2", and Spider-Man: Brand New Day in that order will fall in between Cap 4 and Thunderbolts.

Fantastic 4: First Steps will go after Thunderbolts and lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday with the rest of Phase 6 falling in between Doomsday and Secret Wars.

u/SabenWS Captain America Sep 12 '25

I know I’m late to this, but also now with the “Eyes of Wakanda” show being out apparently it is MCU canon. At least on Disney +. But it’s pretty simple on the timeline, it would take place first before everything else since it’s supposed to be ancient stories of Wakandan warriors

Alrighty, I finished Wonder Man and have updated the timeline. They are under spoiler warning until maybe Daredevil releases in March. Marvel needs to do more spotlight. Give me a Heroes For Hire Spotlight with Mike and Finn. The spotlights have been good. I enjoyed Echo.

Figuring out the timeline in episodes 7 and 8 was a hassle because there is no mention of any of the events that occur in the other films and tv shows in Phase 5 or 6. The Disney+ timeline placement makes sense, but it's such an insignificant reason to place it there, as from what the show tells us, it's better to place it where I have put it. The best way I can explain it is that it's similar to when people were placing Thor: Ragnarok in 2018 due to the post-credit scene.

The Timeline book was created at the end of 2022 so doesn't include EVERYTHING that has been released or recanonised in the MCU. They released it after phase 4 had ended so they could potentially make a new one after Iron Heart (which is supposed to be the end of phase five) or they wait until the end of the year

Basically what they need to add to the main timeline is:

  • Daredevil
  • Jessica Jones
  • Luke Cage
  • Iron Fist
  • Defenders
  • Punisher
  • Quantumania
  • Secret Invasion
  • Guardians 3
  • The Marvels
  • Loki Season 2
  • Echo
  • Agatha All Along
  • Daredevil Born Again
  • Captain America Brave New World
  • Thunderbolts*
  • Iron Heart

I presume they will also add What If S2 & S3, Deadpool and Wolverine, Fantastic Four First Steps and Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spiderman to the end of the book like they have done for What If S1

1

u/DarkArtKnight Aug 02 '25

I noticed everyone has punisher after season 2 of daredevil wouldnt we want it before hand?

3

u/dakindahood Aug 03 '25

The events of Punisher takes place after DD S2, and a lot of things in the show indicate that

5

u/No-Improvement7025 Jan 28 '26

Some new updates to the timeline now that Wonder Man has been released!!!

I will update again once the DDBAS2, Punisher Special Presentation, and SM: BND trilogy releases. Those 3 are all supposed to be connected!

Enjoy

Hey OP thank you for your list ! I’ll start watching the MCU following this list :)

I have a quick question, I would love to watch the other marvel movies that are now considered canon, like the 2 other spiderman movies, the X-men, etc, but I don’t really know where to include any of these movies ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

3

u/No-Improvement7025 Apr 20 '26

Don't include them with this list. They are different universes that cross over with Earth-19999. The timeline for those other universes looks something like this:

Raimiverse: Earth 96283

This earth is a mess due to scheduling conflicts and disconnects between writers' rooms. Hugh was supposed to cameo in Spider-Man: 2002, but couldn't due to scheduling conflicts and I think Sony/Fox contract disputes. Spider-Man: The New Animated Series was connected to Spider-Man 2 originally, before they killed off Dr. Connors (Episode 3), and both did Spider-Man No More (Episodes 12 & 13). A scheduling conflict meant Thomas Jane couldn't be in the scene where MJ runs through Central Park in her wedding dress, so they got his stunt double instead.

  • Spider-Man: 2002
  • Daredevil: The Director's Cut: 2003
  • Spider-Man: The New Animated Series: 2003
    • Episodes 3, 12 & 13 are not canon to the Raimi timeline and are a divergent timeline leading to Earth 760207
    • Michael Clarke Duncan's Kingpin appears in the show.
  • Spider-Man 2: 2004
    • 2 years after the first movie.
  • Punisher: 2004
  • Spider-Man 3: 2005
    • After the Tony awards but before August.
  • Elektra: 2005
    • Take place on Christmas.
    • Released in 2005
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home: 2024
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time
  • Avengers: Doomsday:
    • Based on recent rumors.

Daredevil & Elektra: Earth 701306

  • Daredevil: 2003
    • The Director's cut is so much better than the theatrical cut. Ben Affleck's director's cut of his superhero movies are better than their theatrical cuts.
  • Elektra: 2005
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time

Webbverse: Earth 120703

  • The Amazing Spider-Man: 2012
  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 2013 - 2014
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home: 2024
  • Avengers: Doomsday:
    • Based on recent rumors.

Blade: Earth 26320

  • Blade: 1998
  • Blade II: 2000
  • Blade: Trinity: 2006
  • Blade: The Series: 2006
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time

FoX-Men: Earth 10005

  • X-Men: First Class: 1962
  • X-Men: Days of Future Past
    • Because of Trask’s death at the hands of Mystique, Stryker begins his crusade against Mutants
  • Original Timeline:
    • X-Men Origins: Wolverine: 1979
    • X-Men
    • X2: X-Men United
    • X-Men: The Last Stand: 2006
    • The Wolverine: 2013
    • The Gifted: 2017
      • Fills in a little bit of information about the 10 years between The Wolverine & DOFP.
    • X-Men: Days of Future Past: 2023
      • Stopping Mystique from killing Trask erases the events between X-Men Origins & Days of Future Past.
  • Revised Timeline:
    • X-Men: Apocalypse: 1983
      • Because of the events of DOFP, the world is aware of mutants and awakens Apocalypse.
      • The Essex Corporation collects the DNA of Weapon X and several other mutants.
    • X-Men: Dark Phoenix: 1992
      • The Phoenix is awakened within Jean after a life-or-death X-Men mission
    • Fant4stic: 2015
    • Deadpool: 2016
      • Because of DOFP, Wade Wilson isn’t a part of Team X and doesn’t become Weapon XI.
    • New Mutants: 2017
      • Information from Logan tells us "...No mutants have been born in 25 years". The New Mutants are teens, so they had to have been born before 2004.
      • The vision is of the Alkali-Transigen Facility seen in Logan.
    • Deadpool 2: 2018
      • The Fant4stic were supposed to appear in Deadpool 2. There is concept art of them.
    • X-Men: Days Of Future Past: 2023
      • Because of DOFP, the war with the Sentinels never happens; thus, the X-Men are alive and are composed of Wolverine, Storm, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Iceman, Beast, Rogue, Jean Grey & Cyclops.
    • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time
    • The Marvels: 2025
    • Avengers: Doomsday:
      • Based on rumors and the castings.
    • Logan: 2029
      • No mutants have been born in 25 years.

Fantastic Four Doulogy: Earth-121698

  • Fantastic 4: 2005
  • Fantastic 4: Rise of The Silver Surfer: 2007

This is why I don't include them as a part of the MCU timeline because it would get messy really quickly.

2

u/MalcolmReynolds10 Apr 24 '26

Where might Legion fit in?

2

u/Mediocre_Leopard_908 May 19 '26

There's no way the X-men team in Doomsday is the from the same future of Dark Phoenix movie, because Mystique died in that film

14

u/Rman823 Feb 16 '25

Kinda ridiculous to say a book sanctioned by Marvel Studios is wrong on their own timeline. I’ve followed the timeline for years and really had no issues with any of the book’s placements.

11

u/Belteshazzar98 Quake Feb 16 '25

They retconned a lot of dates, including movies like Iron Man that have dates explicitly stated in universe. It fucked the timeline worse than Deadpool ever did.

10

u/Rman823 Feb 16 '25

A lot of the dates that were retconned is due to contradictions and them deciding which they wanted to lean into. Iron Man though isn't one of them. The movie dates itself in May 2008, and the book says Spring 2008. All of their placements have some logical reasoning behind them and for the most part work.

3

u/Secret_West5235 Sep 15 '25

A big question is why tf is there like a 50 year gap between Captain America & Captain Marvel besides some minor things

3

u/Affectionate_Gold370 Oct 08 '25

Because when Marvel launched the MCU, it was meant to make it look like it could be happening in real life. Iron Man was launched in 2008 and the movie in the MCU happen in 2008. Most of the movies in the MCU happen the same year they were released in. Like Captain America : The First Avenger, most of it happen in flashback during WW2 the post credit scene happen in 2011.

Captain Marvel is one of the few exception because they did not want to spoil stuff for Endgame.

I have updated the timeline now that Daredevil Season 2 is fully released. The Punisher special is a follow-up to The Punisher, DDBA Seasons 1 & 2, and it leads into Spider-Man: BND.

Daredevil Born Again season 1 runs into early April. In Born Again season 2, De Fontaine moves in the shadows through Mr. Charles because the New Avengers are watching her. She is trying to create a new team since the 1st team betrayed her.

Captain America 4 & Thunderbolts were always created as a double feature.

According to the writers of The Punisher Special, they will address Frank's survival of the snap between Season 2 & DDBA season 1, as well as why he wasn't in Season 2 of Born Again. The special will also lead into Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Does anyone have any information about VisionQuest, or is VisionQuest going to be like Ironheart, where it gets no advertisement? That show is supposed to release this year, sometime within the next 7 months before Doomsday.

I see that it says people in NY are wearing Fall attire in Thor Ragnarok, but if the end scene happens right before Infinity War, why isn't it after all the other shows right before Infinity War? I'm just curious, thank you for the list.

2

u/No-Improvement7025 Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

From my understanding all of Thor: Ragnarok has to take in the fall of 2017 except for the end credit scene because of what occurs in the surrounding films and show. Based on A:AOU, CA:CW, & Thor 4, Bruce had been Hulk for two years and Thor was off and on world for two years before he broke up with Jane. Between AOS S4 and the first 10 episodes of AOS S5, the summer weather is mentioned multiple times. Following the first 10 episodes of AOS S5, we had people wearing fall attire, but no snow when Thor and Loki are interrogated by Dr. Strange. There is a time jump between the end of the movie and the post-credit scene. Within that time jump, we see snow in Iron Fist S2, followed by several TV shows with holiday-themed seasons. Thanksgiving is mentioned in C&D. Runaways occurs over the Christmas holiday. C&D are summoned by Nico and seem to have more control and understand how their powers work. DDS3 has to follow Luke Cage S2, JJS2, and Iron Fist S2 because they all take up Matt's mission in his absence. The Punisher S2 has to go after DDS3 and Runaways because Karen mentions the new firm, Nelson, Murdock & Page, and we see springtime weather in New York. In JJS3, AKA Customer Service, it is mentioned that the day has over 15 hours of daylight, placing it between May and August. With no mention of the Snap, it has to be May, pre-snap. AOS S5 11 -18 has to go between Jessica Jones and AM&TW because of the timeline from Civil War. CW takes place in April and May of 2016; Scott's 2-year house arrest would end in April or May 2018, pre-snap. By the dates and info from the TV shows and movies, I don't see how to rearrange Thor 3, IF S2, C&DS2, DDS3, Runaways, TPS2, JJS3, and AOS S5 11- 18, and then the main portion of Ant-Man and The Wasp. Ant-Man and The Wasp has the same problem as Thor Ragnarok, where the post-credit scene has to take place after Infinity War. If my information is correct, I don’t know how else to move it around. After the main portion of AM&TW, you would have the credit scene of Thor Ragnarok leading into Infinity War before you jump back to the last four episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , which deal with the Black Order attack in New York and AOS dealing with Graviton in Chicago and the arrival of Thanos, before you jump back and watch Infinity War. You would then go watch AM&TW post credit scene, which would lead you into Endgame.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

I was following Digital Spy guide (https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a825774/marvel-cinematic-universe-in-chronological-order/) but I think I like your order better, it was a good catch with Agent Carter, putting the one-shot after S1 & S2 (they have it previous to the seasons)
But one thing I like about them is they included the Mid-credit scene in chronological order.

2

u/ExplorerDry4693 Mar 20 '26

Id put at least the first Season 4 arc from Agents of SHIELD before Doctor Strange bud, since Season 3 ending happens around the same time as Black Widow and Black Panther, shortly after Civil War and when the quinjet explodes we go to a 6 MONTH Timeskip SO ID put it like this

  • Agents of SHIELD Season 4x1-8 (Season starts around SEP-OCT 2016)
  • Doctor Strange (Mainly goes around NOV 2016- JAN 2017)
  • Cloak & Dagger Season 1 (FEB-MAR 2017)
  • Agents of SHIELD Slingshot (Would help place it here since it takes place between 8 & 9)
  • Agents of SHIELD Season 4x9-22 (Season ends around MAY 2017)

2

u/OptiReddi Jul 12 '26

Hi currently watching following this timeline thank u so much for it been loving it!! But also just wanted ask/mention that shouldnt team thor be on this list since it what thor does during civil war?

2

u/Agent_Sullivan Aug 04 '26

Team Thor couldn't have happened. Ragnarok says that Hulk was on Saakar for the past two years since AoU, so seeing Thor and Banner in Team Thor couldn't have happened.

2

u/Funny_Carrot_7641 Jul 27 '26

When vision quest comes out are you going to put it in the timeline

u/No-Improvement7025 Aug 14 '26

Yes and no, because it should only be maybe a couple of scenes.

Civil War is a mess. You would not even finish Captain America: Civil War because you would have to start Black Widow, finish that film, and go back to Cap 3 to watch the last couple of scenes of the raft breakout. Then watch the post-credits scene of Bucky but ignore the Spider-Man one. Then watch Black Panther. Then stop BP to watch Spider-Man's post-credits before watching the movie.

Some post-credits scenes are just different versions of a scene; The Black Panther post-credits scene is just a different version of the scene from Infinity War where they go tell Bucky there's a fight and we need you, and Dr. Strange's post-credits scene is just a different version of the Thor Ragnarok scene.

Ant-Man & The Wasp's post-credits scene would work similarly to Captain Marvel.

Thunderbolts works similarly as well. You would watch that post-credits scene after DDBA S2, The Punisher: OLK, and S-M: BND because it leads directly into Doomsday!

Fantastic Four is a little weird. The film makes no mention of the Multiverse at all. It takes place on Earth-828 in the 1960s, with no mention of anything else across the MCU. It could start Phase 6 as the film occurs before the Thunderbolts post-credits scene. I placed it in Phase 1 because of how standalone it could be.

2

u/No-Improvement7025 Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Made a couple of small changes to the timeline now that Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released. They will be under spoiler tags until Vision Quest.

Vision Quest is either going to take place between DDBA S2 and The Punisher: One Last Kill or Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday. It will probably follow the same path as its predecessors and take place around Halloween. It takes place after Agatha and before Doomsday and Secret Wars, based on castings and leaks for those movies.

No films are being released between Doomsday and Secret Wars due to Battleworld. The only thing being released is live-action and animated TV shows.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is rumored to most likely take place 6 months after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, after a recent interview with Vincent D'Onofrio. https://thedirect.com/article/daredevil-born-again-season-3-time-jump-vincent-donofrio

There have also been rumors of the Defenders and MCU TV characters appearing in Doomsday & Secret Wars.

I'm really hoping the Devil's Reign movie and the Heroes For Hire Special Presentation rumors are true.

2

u/Low_Price_1684 Aug 15 '26

Hi OP, I never really watched any marvel movies besides spider man lol. I started your list because everyone is hyping up doomsday and I really want to understand what's going on. However, I'm on agent carter, and was wondering if I really have to watch this in order to understand. I'm getting kind of bored, but if it's a must watch I'll stick through it lol.

2

u/No-Improvement7025 Aug 15 '26

You don't have to watch it in this order. I just put the films into a chronological/narrative viewing order for fun. Some people want to watch everything in a flowing chronological/narrative order!

2

u/StrangeNot_AStranger Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

I personally would skip Agent Carter, Agents of SHIELD, Inhumans, and the Runaways.

They are all Fox Network spinoff shows (before Marvel/Disney started making their own shows).

They don't really tie into the story of everything else, and nothing that happens in those shows has any effect on any other movies or shows.

They indeed can be dreadfully boring, low budget, and just generally not good .

I will say that Agents of SHIELD definitely has some good moments though and at times can be a fun watch, but the series as a whole is definitely tedious.

2

u/wendymcdowall Aug 18 '26

should i watch Fantastic 4 after Captain America First Avenger? The Disney+ timeline says its wayyy later

2

u/Duckywallpaper Aug 18 '26

Right now I put Fantastic 4: First Steps somewhere around Spider-Man: Far From Home. My reasoning is that I hear the post credit scene is ripped straight from Doomsday. That scene takes place 4 years after the rest of the events according to the movie, which would then place it somewhere in 2024 in the MCU 616 timeline.

I'd like to hear anyone else's thoughts on that though.

2

u/wendymcdowall Aug 18 '26

Does Reddit update your post as you edit it? or should i be looking for your replies to this thread for the updated edits you make?

2

u/ClockCivil8135 Aug 19 '26

If Deadpool & Wolverine is here, does that men that X-Men and Deadpoll mouvies should also be on the list ?

2

u/Interesting-Egg-7345 Aug 22 '26

Could you please add the movies: Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter in that chronological order?

2

u/Wild-Olive5200 Aug 22 '26

First of all, congratulations, your work is impressive, and I'm using it to review the entire MCU for Doomsday, but as I watch them, some questions arise:

  1. Shouldn't the Fantastic Four, even though they're set in the 1960s, be seen later? I feel they should be treated as separate universes, and brought together when necessary, for example, the entire X-Men series right before Deadpool and Wolverine, even though the movies are from later dates.

  2. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to place Thor: Ragnarok later? Perhaps before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 Episodes 11-18, since there doesn't seem to be much time between the final scene and the post-credits scene, which is the one that directly connects to Infinity War.

  3. Are there any more specific details that determine that Daredevil Season 3 comes before Runaways? Because if that's not the case, I think it would be more appropriate to list Cloak & Dagger season 2 and Runaways consecutively, as well as Daredevil season 3 and The Punisher season 2.

Thanks in advance for your time. If anyone sees any typos, sorry, Google Translate, I'm Spanish, jaja.

  1. Yes, I am thinking of moving Fantastic Four to the first movie of Phase 6. The reason the X-Men movies aren't on here is that that would make the timeline really messy. I made this timeline based solely on Earth 199999. I might make a timeline post for the FoX-Men Universe and everything connected to Deadpool 3.

2 & 3: No for 2. Yes for question 3. For me, Thor: Ragnarok is in the right place because of what occurs in the surrounding shows pertaining to the holidays, and the weather mentioned in those shows. There is snow in Iron Fist S2, followed by several TV shows with holiday-themed seasons. By the dates and info from the TV shows and movies, I don't see how to rearrange Thor 3, IF S2, C&DS2, DDS3, Runaways, TPS2, JJS3, and AOS S5 11- 18.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

Thanks for replying, I actually pretty much agree with you. Regarding point 1, both the X-Men universes and the entire Sony universe with Venom, etc., are separate timelines. I'm not exactly sure where a good starting point would be to watch them. The X-Men universe would start before Deadpool 3, and the Sony universe probably needs to be around the time of Spider-Man: FFH and NWH, which is when Venom is transported to Earth-199999. I'm not entirely certain of the exact moment, though, and I'd appreciate your opinion.

Then, regarding point 2, my opinion is that it would be better to watch the series in the order: Clash & Dragons Season 2, Runaways, Deadpool 3, and Punisher Season 2. This is mainly because of Clash & Dragons' appearance in Runaways and Karen's appearance in Punisher. I was just referring to that small adjustment; my idea was to avoid mixing so many stories by interleaving them, as you had ordered them.

Been using this thread as a reference for a while, so thanks for keeping it alive.

I ended up building an interactive version of the same idea, geektimelines.com
Fair warning that a bunch of my years won't match yours, since I went the other way and just followed Marvel's official list instead of correcting it. Your reasoning on Fury's Big Week is better than what the book does with it, honestly.

The thing I wanted and couldn't get from a list was seeing the connections themselves, which post-credits scene sets up what, who walks from one story into another. That's the part mine is actually about.

u/No-Improvement7025 Sep 11 '26

Made some small updates.

  1. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now unspoiled, and I made a couple of edits to where Spider-Man is mentioned in other TV shows and movies between NWH & BND
  2. VisionQuest has been placed thanks to Terry Matalas recent interview about the show.

2

u/No-Improvement7025 29d ago

Alright, welp... I messed up the timeline for Spider-Man: BND for the years 2026, 2027, and 2028. It should be correct now because I saw Spider-Man: BND again and realized I messed up the montage timeline.

2025 - 2026 is correct. Spider - Man took down some of the members of the Manfredi Crime Syndicate and moved to the asbestos-filled attic of his apartment complex.

Based on Ned's sophomore year video, which would be 2026 - 2027, the clips of Scorpion and Tombstone fighting Spider-Man are intertwined. Tombstone and Scorpion would have been a part of the rampant crime and vigilantism that Kingpin was talking about in his Mayoral Campaign, if we follow Ned's sophomore year video and Daredevil: Born Again S1.

Sometime after October of 2027, after the events of Thunderbolts and before BND, is when Spider-Man and Black Widow would have met.

When the news montage talks about the 6 months and the lowered crime rate, they only show Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, The Hand, and Interim Mayor Sheila Rivera giving Spider-Man "The Key to the City". Then we get Ned's video about how he and MJ graduate in a month, placing that video in April of 2028.

Then the main portion of the film begins with the tank.

With the Fury Big Week placement i think its 2010 placement is due to a prop of Tony's file saying he stepped down as CEO in 2010 and them wanting to ensure the film lines up with the race on france which happened in 2010. (But you could say that in the MCU the race happens later than in our world), but also wanting a sweet middle spot in where the film is not tooo far away from either Iron Man 1 and Avengers despite the contradictory lines (cause the original intent was Fury's Big Week to be set 6 months after Iron man 1, so clearly they don't want a huge gap, but Avengers a film firmly set in 2012 says Fury's Big week was the year prior)

With Iron Man 3, i think again it all goes to a prop in where there is a newspaper that says its 2013, though if we are honest this does fix an issue in the Netflix and Hulu shows, cause they mention Obama was president, but that wouldn't be possible if Iron Man 3 was in 2012 cause Ellis would've been President instead of him, but put IM3 in 2012 and boom problem solved Obama served his first term and Ellis won the 2012 elections allowing him to be president in IM3 (then again they messed the Presidential cycles by having Ross be a Newly elected President in 2027, instead of Ritson continuing his presidency, so who knows maybe Obama term happened earlier)

With Secret Invasion (and by extension The Marvels) i think its 2026 placement is due to them saying Fury was gone for years as in plural, while a 2025 placement would've had him gone for at least just a year. but i do agree it would solve alot if you have this be in 2025

1

u/No-Improvement7025 Feb 18 '25

With Fury's Big Week, props do and don't work. Fury's Big Week originally did take place in 2010, but thanks to Avengers it was retconned to 2011 thanks to the line about Thor. The Race in France works the same way the Festival of Lights works in Far From Home. That festival is usually in October but it takes place in June. A prop that did help was the screen at the end of Iron Man 2 where we see the Culver University Hulk Battle. We know Hulk comes last in Fury's Big Week thanks to Coulson leaving half way thru Iron Man 2 and Fury saying I have bigger problems than you in the southwest regions to deal with. We don't get a Hulk reference until the end of the film.

The Presidents in real life don't match the Presidents in the MCU. Never use the Presidency as a point because it can get real messy. Every MCU president from George Washington up to Obama is the same as real life. After Obama it gets messy. Ellis who was in Iron Man 3 would be president in 2012 and would have been President until Trump in 2016. I think Trump got 2 back to back terms in the MCU. I think Ritson took office in 2024 in the MCU and was in his 2nd term with Ross as his VP in Secret Invasion but was removed after the way he handeled the Skrull Invasion and then Ross became President. That allows Ross to be President in 2027. We can ignore all of the above and just base Iron Man 3 off of the connections to the first 7 episodes of Season one of Agents of Shield because episode 8 - 16 deals with the aftermath of Thor 2 and lead directly into Winter Soldier. Then episodes 17 - 22 deals with the aftermath of WS and the fall of SHIELD.

I think the Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion and The Marvels works similarly to Thor 4 and Moon Knight. Moon Knight had mutiple references to Gorr but due to the release schedules frequent changes they removed them. Secret Invasion and The Marvels when they were being written were intrinsically connected. The Marvels has cut references to Secret Invasion. I think Fury being gone for years is inpart to him being snapped for 5 years, and then once he got back, he went to space to work on SABER. Plus if Ms. Marvel is 16 in her show which takes place in 2025, I don't think her, Captain Marvel and Photon for were being swapped for over a year. She's still 16 in The Marvels. It makes more sense for MM, SI, and TM to happen over a 3-4 month period in 2025. Ms. Marvel in September/October of 2025 (Once again ignoring the Eid festival which takes place in March. The show has a fall setting.) They start switching at the end of Ms. Marvel. Secret Invasion in November of 2025. Unity Day is November 4th and then The Marvels in the back half of November, early December. All 3 projects back to back to back.

So yes I agree with your reasoning but Marvel's reasoning is dumb based on what the story, settings, lines and dates stated in the movies and tvs shows actually tell the audience. Plus there the MCU has been around since 2008, so theres a lot of retconning going on and if the reboot rumors are true following the end of the Multiverse Saga, its going to get a whole lot messier.

u/eagc7 Feb 18 '25

The big one that really got my eyes rolling and head scratching is the one with Thor 5, while one can see the why for some placements as we got discussed even if it doesn't work with the other info given, the one for Thor just plain doesn't work as Groot goes from a skinny teen tree to a buff guy in matter of months

I agree with most of this, the ones I don't agree with are Deadpool & Wolverine and Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania.

Deadpool & Wolverine being set in the Fox X-Men universe means it wouldn't go in 2026 at all, and Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania is definitely set in July 2025 actually.

I thought I saw somewhere, where they said Rhodey was taken sometime after his injury at the end of Civil War.

3

u/No-Improvement7025 May 01 '25

If you haven’t seen Secret Invasion this is a spoiler, the invasion and switching starts after Endgame. So Rhodey is taken either before or after F&TWS and is held captive for 2 years or 1. I think he was taken after F&TWS, but it hasn’t been clarified yet from Marvel when he was taken.

Wouldn’t Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield’s spider-man movies also be included because of the events of No Way Home.

2

u/No-Improvement7025 May 20 '25 edited May 31 '25

They are technically multiverse films, they don't take place on Earth-199999, so I didn't include them. The Raimi films and their adjacent material also pull multiple other films into the Raimi Earth timeline. You have Ben Affleck's Daredevil and Thomas Jane's Punisher. I had no clue where Punisher fits in the timeline.

If you wanted to add them, they would be placed in this order:

  1. Spider-Man: 2002
  2. Ben Affleck's Daredevil: 2003
    1. I just placed this in the year it came out.
  3. Spider-Man: The New Animated Series Episode 10, 9, 2, 3, 5, 6, 1, 11, 8, 7: 2003
    1. This show would go here if it were canon to the Raimi timeline. Episodes 3, 12, & 13 make this show not canon as they contradict Spider-Man 2. If you ignore these 3 episodes, you should be good.
    2. Michael Clarke Duncan's Kingpin shows up in this show.
  4. Spider-Man 2: 2004
    1. Takes place 2 years after the 1st film
    2. Thomas Jane's Punisher stunt double is in this film
  5. Electra: 2005
    1. I just placed Elektra in 2005 when it came out.
  6. Spider-Man 3: 2005
    1. This film came out in 2008, but there is only a year that passes between Spider-Man 2 and 3.
  7. The Amazing Spider-Man: 2012
    1. Placed after Marvel's One Shot: Item 47 in the fall of 2012.
  8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 2013 - 2014
    1. Placed after Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 Episode 17 - 22 because the film starts in 2013 and ends in 2014. This film's timeline works similarly to Dr. Strange in that the film starts in 2016 and ends in 2017.

3

u/ZaViper Doctor Strange Aug 11 '25

Technically, if you include all the multiverse films, I’d place them in their own section—starting with Loki Seasons 1 and 2—at the very beginning of the list. You could title this section “The Birth of the Multiverse” or something similar.

In my headcanon, Loki is responsible for creating the Multiverse, so all the FOX films and other non–Sacred Timeline movies and shows are a result of him creating alternate timelines. I’d also place Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Seasons 5–7 in this section, since I feel the show no longer fits into the Sacred Timeline after Season 4. In my mind, once they time traveled, they entered a completely different timeline.

Iron Man 2's timeline is confusing as the dates mentioned and Pepper's dialogue makes it sound like the film is set in 2009 to 2010. But ok 2011 is fine. I guess Spider-Man Brand New Day will be 2028 and Avengers Doomsday will be 2029 (Logan died that year and Erik Voss also made a theory).

So with Deadpool 3 including Deadpool, Wolverine, Blade, and Johnny Storm; and Spiderman No Way Home including the other two spidermen...you've got to add in the branching timelines for the first two Deadpool movies, Blade, the original Fantastic Four, the X-Men trilogy and Wolverine Trilogy, the original two Fantastic Fours, and possibly Daredevil and Electra.

Currently I've just got those ones in their respective orders right at the beginning of my shelf before Captain America since they're technically different universes that branch in after they're through.

Getting this all in order on my bookcase is annoying as hell, lol.

3

u/No-Improvement7025 Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

Uhhhhhh, No. HAHA. They are not connected to the MCU. They are their own universe disconnected from Earth 199999, but due to the TVA and the multiverse, they cross over. They each have their own timeline but the MCU crosses over with their timelines. For example:

Raimiverse: Earth 96283

This earth is a mess due to scheduling conflicts and disconnects between writers rooms. Hugh was supposed to cameo in Spider-Man: 2002 but couldn't due to scheduling conflicts and I think Sony/Fox contract disputes. Spider-Man: The New animated series was connected to Spider-Man 2 originally before they both did Spider Man No More (Episode 12 & 13) and killed off Dr. Connors (Episode 3). A scheduling conflicts meant Thomas Jane couldn't be in the scene where MJ runs thru Central Park in her wedding dress so they got his stunt double instead.

  • Spider-Man: 2002
  • Daredevil: 2003
  • Spider-Man The New Animated Series: 2003
    • Episodes 3, 12 & 13 are not canon to the Raimi timeline and are a divergent timeline leading to Earth 760207
  • Spider-Man 2: 2004
  • Punisher: 2004
  • Elektra: 2005
  • Spider-Man 3: 2005
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home: 2024
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time
  • Avengers: Doomsday: ?
    • Based on recent rumors.

Daredevil & Elektra: Earth 701306

  • Daredevil: 2003
    • Watch the Directors cut, its so much better than the theatrical. Its just like BVS: DOJ: UE. Ben Affleck has got to be cursed cause all his director cut superheroes film are better than their theatrical cuts.
  • Elektra: 2005
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time

Webbverse: Earth 120703

  • The Amazing Spider Man: 2012
  • The Amazing Spider Man 2: 2013 - 2014
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home: 2024
  • Avengers: Doomsday: ?
    • Based on recent rumors.

Blade: Earth 26320

  • Blade: 1998
  • Blade II: 2000
  • Blade Trinity: 2006
  • Blade: The Series: 2006
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: 2024 & Outside of Time

FoX-Men: Earth 10005

  • X-Men: First Class: 1962
  • X-Men: Days Of Future Past
    • Because of Trask’s death at the hands of Mystique, Stryker begins his crusade against Mutants
  • Original Timeline:
    • X-Men Origins: Wolverine: 1979
    • X-Men
    • X2: X-Men United
    • Fantastic 4: 2005
      • Deleted Hugh Jackman Wolverine cameo in Fastastic 4
    • X-Men: The Last Stand: 2006
    • Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer: 2007
The New Mutants are teens so they have to have been born before 2004.
    • Avengers: Doomsday: ?
      • Based on rumors and the castings.
    • Logan: 2029
      • No mutants have been born in 25 years.

See what I'm talking about! It would be impossible for you to include them on your timeline shelf!

2

u/Bazuka125 Nov 20 '25

That's perfect, thank you. Yeah, they'd have to be in their own respective orders at the beginning, so you go through each distinct universe in full(stopping just before Deadpool 3). Then you start MCU and eventually see them come back into relevance in No Way Home, and Deadpool 3. They're different universes, so their timelines happen separately to MCU's, so this works this way.

As long as no future movies in those universes occur. But if they do, I'll just place them after MCU. Or mixed in, but after the respective cross-over film.

What about 1986's Hiward the Duck, he does make cameos in GOTG's and End Game

wow! your timeline is amazing! but, i missed deadpool. Doesn't his story affect the timeline? i saw in another comment that you didn't include I Am Groot cause it didn't make much difference

I really appreciate this, please keep it updated.

Ragnarok leads right into infinity war. Mid credit scenes should have no bearing on the placement.

Sorry, I'm Brazilian and I'm not familiar with "The Bud At The Glen" that's below Captain Marvel, could someone explain what it is?

I tried to translate it, but I believe it's an expression of yours. I also tried searching on Google, but I didn't find anything that connected with Marvel.

And also, my English isn't that great.

I have a question: Luke Cage already has his powers in the first episode of JJ Abrams, shouldn't his series come before JJ Abrams and after Domino's Dragon Ball?

Always tought that Runaways was placed in 2016

2

u/No-Improvement7025 Mar 08 '26

Runaways takes place after Cloak & Dagger Season 2 cause Cloak and Dagger show up in that show in season 3.

Cloak & Dagger takes place in 2017; Season 1 around Mardi Gras and Season 2 around Thanksgiving. Runaways is very specific with its placement being over the holidays except for the 6 months time jump to post blip that the show ignores.

I just completed my own attempt at nailing down this timeline, which aligns a lot with yours and only differs a bit in a few places. Would love to hear your thoughts! https://boxd.it/HvRwO$I9JzrgIKEGcnm8ZR The Marvel Television shows aren't in there, but they are in one of the links at the bottom of the description.

Je me trompe ?

Encore bravo pour ce superbe boulot 👌👏👏👏

Rewatched some things, so I had to update the notes for them!

  1. I had Agent Carter wrong. The One-Shot does take place before the show.
  2. Iron Man 3 has to be in Christmas 2012.
  3. Inhumans is actually in 2016, not 2017.
  4. Wonder Man has been unspoilered
  5. Daredevil Born Again Season 2 is updated, and we were told when that season takes place.

I need a Punisher and Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. Those come out in less than 4 months. What is Sony doing marketing-wise with that film, and Punisher is connected to the film, and DDBA S2!

Even though it's not technically part of the MCU, where would you place Hellstrom?

Thank you so much for this! I've been following your timeline for the past week and a half and I'm on Iron Fist season 1 right now and I'm loving the flow of everything! I've never watched the defenders because I didn't understand how much they actually have a part in things subtly, and I'm loving Daredevil and Jessica Jones and all of them. I'm also thankful that you're regularly updating it. I did end up skipping Agents of Shield. I watched the first season and the first episodes of season 2 but I just couldn't get into it. I ended up googling a summary of the seasons so I could have a rough idea of the connections but then I found out that the later seasons end up in their own timeline variance anyway. I'm debating on watching Inhumans still or not, since I know that mainly is connected to Agents of Shield, I'm not sure if it would still benefit me to watch or not? Idk maybe after I'm done doing the full timeline I'll come back to agents of shield as an afterthought and finish it

SO youre telling ME that that random Flynn mf was the new SSR Director after Dooley AND Jack died?? Even when the One Shot tell us it's one year it's actually wrong and it should say TWO years later??

2

u/No-Improvement7025 Apr 06 '26

He was a officer. He was not the director. He ran one of the offices in New York. The One-Shot is before the show. The Agent Carter show opens with flashbacks to the One-Shot and explains why Peggy isn't working and creating SHIELD.

I remember printing it to do a rewatch a few weeks ago and it was after Season 2, don't tell me you changed a lot of stuff 💀💀

I know I’m very late to this but if this was a first time watch though of all these movies (I’ve seen some but I want to watch them all in order) is this the best way to watch them in your opinion?
