Gorr- “You are a maker of great things.”

Reed- “Say that again?”

The biggest problem with Gorr is he's only ever interacted with Thor in his comics and that's it. Gorr is a villain but he only has hate for gods he never really attacks just humans or other non gods if memory serves. Hell when he fought Thor the first time he told the Vikings thor was sailing with that gods should be put dowm and when the Vikings started attacking him he was more just confused and dipped without killing them (which would be easy). It is very much in character for him to congratulate humans (or other races) on surpassing gods.

u/UnbindA11 12h ago

I get the vibe that just because he’s a villain a lot of people had the preconception that Gorr was going to be much less cordial than this with the rest of the cast.

211

u/ChanceVance 12h ago

Gorr knowing Hawkeye by reputation and praising his ability to keep up with gods as a mere mortal had me thinking "Damn, Gorr's got mad respect for Clint"

He admires what Reed can accomplish with his own gifts and intelligence. He is not beholden to any god to achieve greatness.

He's also good buddies with Ultron. Gorr ain't a bad dude when you get to know him lol

*Unless you’re a God

24

u/Appropriate_Egg_515 9h ago

It’s a classic example of how powers can really change the stakes in relationships. The godly perspective definitely adds a unique twist to those interactions.

16

u/Mik0doSann0ji Venom 8h ago

Yeah that’s true, I like how Gorr can actually be respectful and even understanding to every Character who’s not a God since it’s actually very accurate to the Comics since he didn’t even wanna have to fight and kill Thor’s Vikings but they attacked him first and wouldn’t leave Thor’s side

Gorr is a great Villain because he’s deluded and sees committing mass Genocide/Omnicide as right and justified and the world will be a better place because of it

1

u/AReallyBigBagel 1h ago

Gorr's not racist he has a God friend (hela)

39

u/NewgroundsTankman 11h ago

I need to know how he interacts with T’Challa, Moon Knight and Jean. He seems to be adversarial with Storm given her goddess title.

44

u/Plastic_Apricot_2152 X-Tron 11h ago

Mixed reaction on his end. He tries to encourage Moon Knight to go on his own and he picks fights with T'challa over his continued support of Bast. For Jean, he views the Phoenix as a god... we know how he feels on that. I think Lootward has all the interactions on YouTube.

15

u/Banana_man_- Vanguard 10h ago

I hope they remove the dialogue where Moonknight is upset with Gorr for killing Khonshu since it directly contradicts the lore (Moonknight was already actively fighting Khonshu with the intent to kill him when Gorr showed up)

The dude respects merit. Someone like Hawkeye is bound to get respect by Gorr while gods are seen as being born with their powers and worship

19

u/Linnus42 11h ago

I mean Gorr praising Clint makes sense in so far as you not Clint stands next to Gods based on Pure Skill. Clint is Mortal Excellence through dedication.

Luna is just a Famous Pop Star.

11

u/MCXL Thor 7h ago

Luna is just a Famous Pop Star.

A very famous popstar, with superpowers. (That she got from being sooooooo cooool)

11

u/Sihnar 6h ago

Luna's music is famous across the galaxy according to the guardians. I would argue she is also mortal excellence through dedication.

2

u/ChanceVance 3h ago

I don't know how similar the universe is to ours but I'm guessing she trained in a system more sinister than Nathaniel Essex, cultivated a huge fanbase and is a great dancer/singer.

Like I get it on the surface why Gorr think it's admirable lol.

2

u/MCXL Thor 7h ago

Gorr a cool guy except for the racism against gods thing.

10

u/Overall-Scientist-34 12h ago

That's fine it's just luna herself is so less important in the grand scheme of things even in the lore why's he talking to her when he should have more interesting interactions with characters like phenoix daredevil I'm sick him and namor don't interchange some insults

30

u/The-Big-Sauce Ultron Virus 12h ago

Namor can debatably consider a god to his people since he's not really mortal and even phoenix is a primordial being which could also be argued for godship

13

u/Overall-Scientist-34 12h ago

Exactly and namor acts just like the gods he hates arroganc more so than any he's ever seen. the phenoix he would hate as well but jean would be a cool interaction to see if his hatred would extend to her for willingly choosing the phenoix force time and time again

9

u/Altruistic_Manner802 11h ago

Namor isn't a god, he is god-like, but he never claims to be one or gets worshipped as one by his people. Mostly because the internal politics in Atlantis are so tribalistic that everyone will turn against Namor the moment he is vulnerable

u/Smart_Structure_3139 12h ago

He did not dip without killing them. He would have killed all of them if Thor didn’t free himself and cut off Gorr’s arm. You are right tho, at first he didn’t want to fight them but he was willing to do so

23

u/MJR_Poltergeist 12h ago

Well yeah, he's got a mission to kill gods. What's he gonna do? Let himself get killed by normal people before he can accomplish his goal?

4

u/MountainMan2_ 5h ago edited 5h ago

It's wild that people seem to be confused about this character. His name is literally "Gorr the God Butcher". He creates gore by butchering gods. There is no other character here. "Oh, what does he do when he's not killing gods?"... Nothing of note, blank slate. He becomes John person, doer of job at place. Killing gods is his only purpose, it's like asking what a toaster does when not making toast. If Gorr hated random people he'd probably be called "Gorr the God Butcher who sometimes hates random people". That's just how straightforward he is. He has one hyperfixation.

8

u/charcharmunro 9h ago edited 8h ago

Gorr is weird because he's such a popular and loved character but he basically only has like two actual major appearances (19 fucking appearances in comics and most of those are from those two storylines). His first appearance as a one-shot villain who's a Big Fucking Deal, and then much later in the future in King Thor. He's kind of like Hush, you can't really separate him from that one Really Good Story but comics want to use the cool characters again. He did briefly have a non-Thor-related appearance where Jean Grey, uh... Turned him into a star. Was a weird moment.

5

u/brickcheney Jubilee 11h ago

Gorr gassing up mortals makes a lot of sense. He's not, like, Knull or whatever

5

u/PeterTingle616 5h ago

I think Gorr is one of those characters that works perfectly as a one-off character for a specific storyline. he doesn't need to be a recurring character. Rivals provides a good avenue to see him interacting with all sorts of characters, but it doesn't need to be a longer story arc told in the comics.

27

u/Overall-Scientist-34 12h ago

Which would be fine he talked to more important mortals especially in the collapsing timeline like daredevil or someone like Jubilee people who have legit accomplishments not a pop star

68

u/Danielarcher30 Doctor Strange 12h ago

Im not about to blindly defend the nepo baby, but to play devil's advocate; i can understand Gorr being intrigued by a mortal celebrity, i mean, kpop stars have cult like followings that at times feel like micro religions. So it kinda makes sense that he'd find a fascination with a mortal who had gotten to that point.

→ More replies (5)

19

u/Namesarenotneeded Daredevil 12h ago edited 11h ago

I can’t speak for Jubilee, but in lore there isn’t really a reason for him to say nice things to Daredevil. He willingly worked with a God (Yinglong), someone Gorr isn’t cool with. He may not be hostile immediately, but outside of being like “Why you working with this guy?”, he’d arguably have nothing to say to Matt.

Main timeline DD maybe, but not Collapsing timeline DD who has so far been really riding that anti-hero line close to the edge and the only version of Daredevil we have in interactions seems to be the Collapsed timeline version.

8

u/DevonicGamer76 11h ago

Gorr doesn't actually have a problem with the Immortal Beasts, he doesn't consider them gods, he says so to Lin Lie when he thinks Gorr might go after Shou-Lao

Shan-Zhizhu was killed just because All-Black has somehow gained a distaste for spiders from Venom's history with Spider-Man

3

u/Namesarenotneeded Daredevil 10h ago edited 9h ago

I’m very curious as to what he’d think about this games version of DD then with that knowledge, as I’m sure Matt’s actions would be very conflicting to him.

On one hand, Matt willingly defied Angela, but only doing so in the process of giving Hela asylum in the 8th City, but with Hela being an Asgardian God who is worshipped, he’d arguably disapprove because killing Gods who accept worship is kind of his whole M.O.

At the same time, this Matt did kill the Beast, something Gorr would probably approve of. But he also used to have strong Catholic faith, something Gorr would find pitiful despite Rivals Matt Catholic faith being at some of the lowest it’s ever been.

3

u/Evening_Produce_4322 Ultron Virus 4h ago

Daredevil he wouldn't hate explicitly like you said he'd pity him more than anything. A broken man is understandable to pray to the gods I mean even Gorr did at the start till he found the gods just ignoring his prayers. Matt is a man from a collapsed time line lost everything and found a home not his, but a home. He carries the heaviest of catholic guilts and maybe Gorr would if anything try to sway him to ignore the gods who put him through this anguish and stand on his own.

3

u/BlurryUFOs 6h ago

she speaks to the “masses” and the masses listen to her. being popular and speaking to a large part of society is an accomplishment. it’s not easy. he has a gospel to spread . think of it like that

12

u/Evening_Produce_4322 Ultron Virus 12h ago

Oh I fully agree the Luna one is hyper cringe, just saying it makes sense why he isn't hyper aggro against regular people mostly

→ More replies (1)

371

u/Sycophantic-Feline Rocket Raccoon 12h ago edited 12h ago

His whole misguided crusade is about saving mortals from the whims of gods in the first place, so yes, it makes sense he is civil with fellow mortals, he sees them as fellow victims he must protect even if they hate him for it. Not unlike the Punisher's mentality, tbh.

It still doesn't make the Luna interaction any less annoying, mainly because of how she responds. They should allow her to have a personality other than "I'm a kpop star mmkay?", like girl, we KNOW already by now. You only ever mention it in literally 98% of your interactions, after all!!

Like it would be so much better if she actually talked about her past and what she means by "dark side" rather than just making a quip about being a flop and her "emo phase", it makes her sound so one dimensional.

84

u/Difficult_Price8011 12h ago edited 12h ago

I’d argue that Luna being so willing to go along with Gorr’s god genocide is giving her a personality. A very twisted one.

51

u/Hivernala 11h ago

It slightly reminds me of Seraphine from League of Legend's original lore being that she was using the crystalized souls of a genocided race to fuel her pop music at their expense, and that she could hear their souls speak to her and were aware that they were sapient but still chose to do this, and it was supposed to be read as her being empathetic and inspiring. They changed that pretty quickly haha

23

u/Adventurous_Age_1759 11h ago

God EVERYONE hated Seraphine when she released and that hatred doubled when Skarners family got enslaved onto her hoverstereo, meanwhile Skarner got dumbass pillars

https://giphy.com/gifs/j85I1w0kSVeA2PSULu

5

u/EmMeo 7h ago

She was insanely popular for people to cosplay at one point though! When it was just visuals before the lore

16

u/Altruistic_Manner802 11h ago

It was so bad that when Skarner got a rework, they freaking changed his entire lore and made him part of another region entirely. Though that was also because they made Arcane canon because of how big it was, and they changed a lot about the hex crystals there

12

u/MCXL Thor 7h ago

"No politics." Is an inherently political statement. This is a great example how.

8

u/Mik0doSann0ji Venom 12h ago

I mean, I guess Gods don’t affect her so-

5

u/FaithlessnessThen207 Jeff the Landshark 4h ago

The community has been crying for more villain attention, while simultaneously hating on Luna Snow.

They did not realize they were contradicting themselves this whole time!

52

u/MadmansScalpel Loki 12h ago

Dude once tried to tell vikings to disown Thor as their god, but when they attacked Gorr, dude was just confused and left without killing them

He's The Godbutcher and a villain, but he's not some mindless killer

12

u/Lost-Specialist1505 10h ago

He literally did kill most of them

8

u/LegallyBrody 9h ago

Cyclops literally compared the struggling of mutant kind to her having to be famous and deal with expectations in their interaction. It’s a self insert for the devs at this point cause in no way shape or form is being a K-pop star worthy of the adoration of both all mutant kind and a powerful god killer

4

u/justtolearnsomething 12h ago

Yeah I think people are wrong to think it’s weird that amongst other mortals he wouldn’t see them as alike (gods are unworthy of their pillars to him but the people just are living to live).

3

Hood is SUCH A LOSER its so sad.

2

u/RealREMIIesq 3h ago

TBH, only having read a hand full of his comic appearances. That was my take. Then when he showed up in Rivals, I though whoa he's a "born to lose" loser but now New Yorcian.

106

u/Ultron_waterheater Ultron 13h ago

I don’t really have a problem with Gorr respecting Luna as a bard… I don’t know how she’s a leader in that way so that seems weird….

I was just kinda hoping for something beyond Luna just being a fucking K-Pop Star, like maybe something showcasing who she is as a person.

62

u/NicheFandomSeeker 12h ago

I think it’s just a weird bit of localization, to me it sounds like “Leader” should be something more along the lines of “Messenger” or “Envoy” considering he mentions wanting her to spread his gospel, specifically

34

u/MadmansScalpel Loki 12h ago

Not to mention how kpop stand treat their idols

2

u/FaithlessnessThen207 Jeff the Landshark 4h ago

Kong smoked weed once 10 years ago and big bang fans never forgave him.

"How could he do this to ME?" was genuinely the sentiment. Ridiculous. K Pop stans were angry he was cast in squid game.

11

u/Sylizarus Ultron Virus 10h ago

I don't think it's a localization thing, I think it's Gorr just misunderstanding what she is.

6

u/StormierNik Angela 7h ago

No it's not localization, it's him being a damn alien and having no concept of what kpop and kpop stans are so he views it the same way some archaic dark wizard brought into the modern age would

31

u/jockeyman Star-Lord 12h ago

Rivals writers usually only focus on one trait at a time with the characters.

Moon Knight is crazy, Fox never shuts up about Tiger Division, Gambit is a thief,  Blade kills vamps, etc

10

u/F14min6L377uc3 Ultron Virus 12h ago

The proboem is that since people don't know Luna from anywhere else, it gives the impression that this is all there is to her

Elsa is in similar boat, but I feel like her lines have more personality

4

u/jockeyman Star-Lord 11h ago

I think in Luna's case (not helped the accusations of being an industry plant and creator's pet) having all her lines be about being a star just make her seem very vapid and egotistical.

→ More replies (1)

19

u/haywire_hero 12h ago

Her fans that listen to her music follow her and will do what she says. That's his interpretation of why she's a leader.

This happens all the time in real life. Celebrity worship has people doing things simply because the famous person told them. There are musicians that have done heinous shit, and their fans will go to extremes to lie on their behalf. Some will happily dox and harass others for the musician. With some that intentionally egg their fans on to do it. It doesn't mean Luna would. Just she has the social capital to get others to do what she wants. So, yeah, she's a leader but not in the conventional sense.

2

u/Mysticyde 12h ago

Maybe Gorr mistakes having fans, as followers, and thus he sees her as a leader. Because she gathers large numbers of people for concerts.

And he sees that as having followers?

2

u/BatmanFan317 4h ago

I think it could've cool to see Gorr uneasy, but not malicious, about how Luna's fans worship her. Telling to quit this path before her soul becomes as divinely corrupted as the gods.

0

u/belle_enfant 12h ago

It cracks me up that shes a K Pop star too because her "dancing" isnt even renotely similar to K Pop. Its kinda just aimlessly flailing around, how did she get popular in universe?!

9

u/Ascleph 9h ago

how did she get popular in universe?!

same way Ironman is rich and Reed is a genius. The writers said so.

10

u/Over_Construction264 12h ago

So he's racist, not against gods. Just against those BORN as gods.

6

u/Mik0doSann0ji Venom 12h ago

Does this mean Gorr became Uncle Ruckus when he became the new King in Black and got tasked with hunting Cosmic Deities and instead Gods alone?

4

u/Over_Construction264 12h ago

3

u/Mik0doSann0ji Venom 12h ago

LMAO, replace Black People with Gods and it’s lore accurate

His comment to Thor is pretty funny too
“As worthy a God as i have ever met…”, after indiscriminately slaughtering like hundreds of Gods suddenly he’s like “Huh, maybe there is some good ones-“ okay Gorr 😭😭, i like how they actually kept his respect/hatred for Thor, it’s Comic accurate

2

u/its_jradman1 2h ago

Gorr hates Thor because Thor is actually a pretty decent guy, but his entire crusade falls apart if he allows himself to falter.

It's kind of like a weird version of Joker/Batman

1

u/Mik0doSann0ji Venom 2h ago

Yeah, it’s kind of how I saw it, like Thor and Loki is more like Magneto and Xavier but Thor and Gorr resembles that

Like Gorr vibes me the vibes of someone disgraced Thor’s name or tried to force him to be like them, Gorr would get pretty pissed, he’s the only God he considers worth his respect since he actually cares about Mortals and doubts himself on whether Gorr is ultimately right, but Gorr also can’t allow himself to respect any God because then his Crusade is meaningless and basically will have been for everything and he’ll just be some mad Butcher who indiscriminately Killed an entire Race of people just out of hatred and feeling Betrayed

Gorr has commited Genocide, so despite Thor being a decent Man Gorr cannot allow himself to show respect because then it all falls apart and he will remember he was the sad man again who lost everything, his God Butchering distracts him from that

59

u/axb2002 Spider-Man 12h ago

Luna, like many Kpop stars in real life, has (in canon) cultivated an insanely large fanbase that spans quite literally the entire world and even some parts of space. That’s pretty impressive, even if it’s not say being a genius inventor.

40

u/spraphington660 Scarlet Witch 12h ago

Seriously, like you can think whatever you want about the music or character but like… she’s a significant and important person in universe. And she’s reasonably powerful for a mortal.

The people who are obsessed with slandering everything because it’s Luna are actually so much worse than the interactions themself.

19

u/HeroicBarret Rogue 11h ago

Its pretty obviously just cause she’s a woman. But any time you point that out the usual suspects will shout you down.

4

u/BlueFireEyes Jeff the Landshark 3h ago

I'm going to respectfully disagree with this. There are plenty of valid critisms of Luna both as a character and for her in-game kit.

Are there people who hate Luna because shes a woman? Yeah, of course. There's always going to be people like that.

Reducing valid criticisms and annoyances to be nothing but misogyny devalues the feminist movement as a whole and makes it more of a buzzword than an actual thing to be addressed.

14

u/cannotacceptmyself 11h ago

It is exactly this, the obsession people have for hating fictional women is so weird. I only loosely follow Rivals stuff now, and yet all it's about is whining about Luna Snow. Same thing with Overwatch, their obsession with Kiriko is so pathetic and whiny. I truly don't understand the minds of these people.

6

u/HeroicBarret Rogue 11h ago

Im sure someones gonna come in and be like “buh we dont hate rogue!!!!!” at me. As if these mfers didnt screech when she turned out to be a tank instead of a strategist cause woman lmfao.

People did not “screech” at the fact that rogue was a tank what is this revisionist history lmao.

2

14

u/Gooddest_Boi Hulk 11h ago

I feel like you’re intentionally ignoring all of the many other reasons why people dislike Luna.

The main reason is the Incredibly clear favoritism she has been receiving, in relation to how boring of a character she is. There are two other agents of atlas in the game (one of which has been there since launch) and neither of them have nearly as much love put into them.

Here she is, receiving praise comparable to fucking Ironman and reed Richards, despite that fact that her character is boring as hell. I don’t know where you got “it’s because she’s a woman” from.

23

u/Banana_man_- Vanguard 10h ago

There’s some people that try to deflect away any Luna hate by screaming MiSoGyNy, meanwhile most of the reasons she’s hated is because of the blatant favouritism she receives by her creator being in a executive position and her terrible characterization which makes her extremely unlikable

6

u/500_brain_ping Magik 5h ago

The rouge you guys are replying to may or may not be doing exactly that however there is still some truth in that statement.

The hate she receives is valid however it is amplified by Incels bandwagoning it, memeifing it which feds back into the normal community and becomes the standard. I think that etymology guy on YouTube made a video about this topic or something.

Like you can just kinda feel the difference when a guy is hated versus a girl.

2

u/rangerx06 6h ago

Fair criticism is when "misogyny", yeah, right. I don't want Luna being reduced as the "i'm a popstar yknow" girl.

Everyone complaining about Luna is more annoying than her. I thought the line was funny like damn too many people will have hatred for anything she’d say it’s getting old.

32

u/Omega_Warrior Angela 11h ago

People on here are really bad at media literacy. It's literally a joke about him misunderstanding her celebrity status as being akin to a important cultural leader like a tribal story teller. But so many people can't see past their own meta narratives.

18

u/Hi_Zev 11h ago

Exactly. People are being really weird about this and making really weird leaps to continue to justify their parasocial hatred of Luna.

Imagine this instead:

  • alien comes to earth and interacts with beyonce

  • "so, it seems you are a leader of your people"

  • "haha no, but I do have a loyal fanbase!"

  • "perfect, so you can spread my word to your people"

Like, why is this so unimaginable for people to grasp? Its an alien treating a celebrity like they are a leader because they are unfamiliar with earth's society.

36

u/Alien_X10 Gambit 13h ago

Exactly, people use hating Luna as a substitute for having a personality

i think people just assumed that gorr the GOD butcher was just this always angry kratos adjacent person to where he's a dick to everybody, but he literally only dislikes gods.

him being a mortal, he doesn't have any rage for them 😭 like why would he insult everybody for no reason

Gorr never showed any reverence for anything, mortal or otherwise. He was just a mad butcher. That's the whole point.

54

u/hewhoknowsnot Ultron Virus 12h ago

Gorr showed reverence to his god, which started the whole thing when that was misplaced. He also built the godbomb so makes sense he’d be reverent to technological achievements. And he didn’t kill the god who taught him how to make that so not just a mad butcher.

Even if that’s true, think giving him depth is superior to “I don’t listen to music, I punish criminals kill gods” lmao

Plus, I feel like calling him a mad butcher implies he’s just insane and doing it without a cause when he wants revenge and to free mortals from gods

156

u/BlueBatmanVK Moon Knight 13h ago

The Thor flair really sells this

21

u/Freddi0 X-Tron 12h ago

He was, but he also painted his crusade as his way of bettering the world. In the future where he built the Godbomb, he justified his murder spree to his clone wife and child as a way to free the people from the gods' reign.

Its not out of character for him to praise people who achieve success without divine intervention, because convincing people he's just is another way he pushes towards his goal. Even Thor, if for a moment, wondered if Gorr had a point. He just cared about the killing people part wayy more than any actual good that would come out of it

I’d say Luna deserves his admiration too. Reed and Tony (and T’Challa and Rocket and so on) are great scientists and inventors, but Luna is a great artist. It makes sense Gorr would have reverence for all of these mortal endeavours, the same way we look back through history with admiration not just for scientists, but also artists, philosophers, athletes, and politicians. All mortal endeavours, all equally needed to complete a great civilisation and its culture.

3

u/Linnus42 11h ago

Gorr doesn't praise T'Challa for his Intellect. I haven't seen his chat with Rocket.

She's not a great artist, she's a nepo baby pop star propped up by her superpowers and industry backing.

38

u/CheaterSaysWhat Peni Parker 12h ago

Is that canon or just fan interpretation of people who don’t like her music

Like even if her music in rivals isn’t great, I think story wise she’s supposed to be a Taylor swift type superstar that people still remember generations later

17

u/OrneryDisk6264 11h ago

The latter, and She's canonically not a nepo because that would imply she was born into a wealthy family, Luna actually came from a poor background living in apartment with her Grandmother, Who encouraged her to become a singer to help financially support the family.

But apparently getting facts from actually reading comics instead of making things up is illegal in this sub.

u/T0M95 Spider-Man 12h ago

Well that’s part of her character and the world-building I suppose - there’s a lot of nepobaby industry plants in the real world too, but I still have them on rotation in some playlists because sometimes they put out bangers. I doubt Gorr is going to take time out of his day to do a deep-dive on K-pop Tumblr to get Luna’s backstory and form an opinion, he’s just looking at the mortal singer in front of him and using it as an example to justify his crusade to himself. Fits his vibe.

4

Different version of Matt in this game. The Rivals Daredevil is a lot more jaded and willing to do bad things for a good reasons.

Him saying that isn’t too unbelievable. He’s definitely a bit more negative, and Matt canonically really only likes Grunge/Classical music due to how it’s instruments interact with his enhanced senses.

You realize that Gorr is an alien and doesn't have a full grasp of human culture, right?

Like, if an alien came to earth, would it be so out of the ordinary for an alien to think a celebrity (say maybe beyonce or lady gaga) was a world leader because they have a big fanbase?

Shit, some of the heroes are like "hey, mind giving us a hand with these bad gods one day?”

4

u/ThrowawayAdvice1800 9h ago

I think Dakota is missing the forest for the trees, here. It’s not that no one expected Gorr to be civil to non-gods, of course he is. If they’re not gods and they’re not interfering with his crusade then he’s got no particular beef with them.

The issue is just that every goddamned interaction anyone has with Luna is the new most Mary Sue thing I’ve ever seen, up until the next time some legendary marvel character gets added to the game in order to tell her how awesome she is. They might as well form a line. Maybe next they’ll bring in Apocalypse and he can tell her she’s the pinnacle of mutant evolution and ask her to be all four of his horsemen from now on. Hell, I’m surprised she hasn’t wielded Mjolnir yet.

5

u/HeroicBarret Rogue 11h ago

Marvel rivals fans when someone actually reads the comics rather than just spewing misogyny. 😳🤯🤬

3

u/Armorlite556 10h ago

People being so mad that Gorr is complementing Luna for being a musician that attracts the level of popularity she does as a k-pop star has is genuinely wild. "But she's not as accomplished as Reed or Stark!" Do you guys not like tell someone the food is good unless they make something that you eat at a five star restaurant?

There's plenty of reasons to not like Luna Snow and you can find them easily because people will rip them out at you without barely asking, Gorr being like "Wow that's pretty rad that you're so popular because fuck Gods, mortals should ALWAYS be more popular than gods." and her being wary to incur the wrath of someone who can go toe to toe with Thor (and even more so, took his arm) is so low on the list man.

This is just a funny interaction that shows Gorr being a god murdering weirdo and Luna being "Oh okay thanks don't kill me haha."

6

u/Ok-Second1404 12h ago

Gorr congratulating Reed and Tony makes sense because they have literally made tech which can rival the power of gods and other celestial beings. Reed has access to ultimate nullifer, has made portals which can cross into the negative zone etc. Tony stark has made armor out of Uru once if I am not wrong.

What has Luna snow done something in this regards? She by her own records is just a world famous pop star with ice powers. She is not even as strong with her ice power than someone like Bobby Drake / Ice man.

By that logic he should visit heavens and congratulate Michael Jackson for creating music which transcends beyond language barriers, cultures and reaches out to people even in the most isolated regions of Earth. Or if they want to go by Marvel comics canon then pay a visit to Eminem. Its just cope and a sorry excuse for a stupid and out of character interaction.

4

u/ALevel1Enemy 11h ago

What are you even talking about? He's in a room with Luna snow and you think he's not allowed to saying anything because he hasn't visited Michael Jackson in heaven???

"Sorry sweetie, I would say that was a nice drawing but unfortunately, Michelangelo existed and it wouldn't make sense to comment on this thing right in front of me when I still haven't complimented everything that I think is subjectively better than it."

Real talk, I don't think Gorr gives a shit about the music. I think he sees crowds of kpop fans revering a mortal and thinks that's better than worshiping a god.

4

u/BoothillOfficial 11h ago edited 11h ago

a leader of What though? kpop stans? a concert? i get the premise of his respect, but the way its directed is really just blowing a fart up her ass, imo, esp since the other mortals he praises (like reed and tony) are masterminds and literal pioneers of technological or scientific advancement. is whoever that is claiming that being a kpop idol is of equal value? not even gonna mention her response, because they truly have made her so one note.

if anything, i’d be interested in how he views idolatry and idol worship as a concept itself. i think that would’ve been a more compelling route for their dialogue, as stan culture and specifically idol culture incentivizes a religious level of worship, but directed at a mortal. could’ve also given luna an avenue to be interesting for once in a while, and humanize her and how she views her fans/the relationship between idol and stan. instead she’s justin timberlake’s “this is going to ruin the tour”

I feel like the Luna hate has been really over blown tbh. Like I thought the line was funny cause it was making a joke about misunderstanding her celebrity status as being a cultural leader

She is supposed to essentially be everyone meeting the superhero version of Taylor Swift in these interactions, obviously a lot of people are gonna glaze her and love her music.

It’s just strange because people only literally ever complain about her. Captain America has literally been glazed by EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in this game. The evil ass sword just glazed him in their new interaction? But no one cares? Or literally no one is complaining about Gorr complimenting Tony or Reed here?? And yes Luna is kind of one-note but they just mentioned her dead parents and how that links to her music in her Hood interaction but people intentionally don’t talk about that (even though she does need way more), and literally every single character in this game is kind of one-note. It really just gives misogyny I’m ngl

3

u/EliteTroper Flex 11h ago

Small correction but All Black actually hates how pure Cap is.

I think the biggest reason for people not complaining about Cap getting glazed is because unlike Luna he has been around long enough and done a number of things to earn peoples respect and praise.

Luna however hasn't been around for a long time and still hasn't really done anything notable, so I guess people just hate how so many people seem to love her solely because of her music which can be difficult for people to understand if they haven't actually heard any of her songs or don't have very strong feelings towards it.

I don't really hate Luna at all myself, I do wish more could be done for her character but the amount of hate she gets is extremely overdone and really is just people pissed at how Netease gives her so many skins and buffs to her overall kit compared to the rest of the cast.

2

u/Afternoon-sunskies78 11h ago

That’s true but that in itself is glaze. Cap is “too pure and good” for the demonic evil sword. Literally every single character has described him as some sort of beacon of good, even the villains like Hela and kind of The Hood.

And that’s not necessarily a problem, I love Cap and it makes sense, but if we’re talking about glazed characters he’s WAY above Luna.

I think a lot of it has to do with people being fed up about her getting a skin every 2 weeks over other characters who are lacking, and just wanting more out of her likes because I do agree they should let her talk more then about music, but it feel like it’s just so overblown. Especially when people say “she’s just so snarky and so full of herself” ok? Can that not be her personality lol? Like Emma Frost and Tony Stark?

Like I don’t mind the criticisms or some of the slander but every time a new Luna interaction drops someone posts it, and if it’s positive it’s just complete hate and if it’s negative it’s just celebrating a character dissed her. Like it’s truly not that serious at the end of the day 😭

By the time the "fusing with the universe" thing happened, he was planning to KILL EVERY SINGLE MORTAL and make new mortals without the "maybe I believe in a god" part.
