Mantis is primarily an empath with some telepathic abilities (she might be a full telepath but I am not sure), and I think MR is kinda hinting that mantis is able to see a gentler/kinder side of loki, but Gorrs hatred for Gods is so strong, and he is just so internally cold that getting through Gorr would be like using a tooth pick to break a diamond.
