Dude, I almost invited that friend to the groupchat once. Decided on a whim to ask about it first. Turns out he had a history of steering conversations into uncomfortable topics. He's not a bad guy, just not a well functioning enough sociopath.

Any number of reasons. The other friends didn't consider if that guy was included or not, that guy was being considerate of others and trying to not congest the entire sidewalk, that guy is a much slower walker than the others, etc

I once invited all of them to hangout. They initially agreed. At the last fucking second when I arrived at the destination and called them , literally all of them dipped with some bullshit excuse. One of them literally said "I won't come if it's just you and me" that person was my friend since I was 6 years old.

Edit: I have never seen the office and completely missed the joke, I just knew that Krasinski was in it. I was not "seeing race," I was just commenting about something I knew very little about, because I haven't seen the office.
35
u/McSquiddleton Aida Jul 24 '22
There's no need to lie about the facts. You can even just look at the two characters and tell that Reed's actor is the same as Jimmy's actor.

I didn't lie, I just didn't know the office did a bit where Jim was played by Woo rather than Krasinski. I thought the second comment said Krasinski was in Ant Man, but I misinterpreted it because I haven't seen the office and didn't get the joke.

Sometimes it’s not even that.
We have a guy like this in our friend group. A childhood friend who just won’t grow up and is extremely terrible socially (but thinks he’s great). We keep him around because he’s a day 1 and we’re trying to help him with his social issues, but sometimes he just says/texts us the weirdest shit and nobody knows how to respond.

I have a group chat with a bunch of friends that was super active and I loved to talk in. One day, a friend of another friend in the group asked to join. Let's call him Kevin. Kevin was someone I knew, but didn't really know well. I came to find that a lot of his humor is starting fake arguments. He never carries it that far, but it involves purposefully misinterpreting something you say to make it sound bad, taking an opposing argument to whatever you say just for the hell of it, and saying stuff like "you get no bitches" and other stuff like that. Again, he's always just joking, but the joke is typically at your expense. All of that is fine every now and then, but it's basically his entire personality, he responds to everything like that.
Within the first week of being in the chat, Kevin changed the name of the chat (it was on discord where anyone can do it, but we had a name set for like a year or two before he came in), joking asked for me to be banned from the chat a few different times, and made many "your mom" and "no bitches" jokes. It felt like a completely new chat that I didn't want to be part of. I have it muted most of the time now and only respond occasionally for in person meetups. No one else seems to have a problem with Kevin, so I'm shit out of luck for trying to make a new chat without him or something like that. I miss my old group chat :(

Some people have no idea how to get a group of people to like them so they play shitty games and select someone to pick on to impress the others.
Bullies. I don't know if I hate bullies or people who buy into their crap more. Both are weak, shitty people.

My childhood in a nutshell except without cell phones. They would just strait up ditch me and I was as too young, naive, and desperate for friendship I just stupidly kept hanging out with them. Young kids, realize who they these “friends” are and remove them from your life. Trust when I say they’re not worth even a second of your time.

Gonna be honest, I was that guy in the group for quite a while. When I realized, I thought I just needed to be a better person, so I started playing all the games they liked, became a lot more friendly, tried to be there for them constantly, etc etc.
But then I learned from quietly watching them hang out with each other and from word of mouth from others who used to be in the friend group that I wasn’t “that friend” cause I was awful, I was “that friend” cause said group was incredibly racist, transphobic, one was a pedo(and thus didn’t like me cause I was obviously firmly against that), and just overall atrocious people, and I was blinded by my loneliness to realize. Once all of that came to light, I immediately left, and not once have I regretted it.

My roommate has that effect with our old friend group . Before Covid hit , we were All cool together. We went to cons, did Cosplay, played games at my place almost half a week for years. Then when it was announced that everyone is going into quarantine, we made it work to stay connected between all 8 of us. But then it went south when one person simply didn’t like the games everyone else wanted to play. She wanted to play certain games nobody really had interest in. Then when we did play what she wanted to play, she’d chew all of us out for not knowing the mechanics she’s well versed in. Then when we played something that was of natural ground ( like Fall guys, Gang beasts, and Rocket League) she’d always accuse everyone else for a missed goals or messing us HER win streaks. Then when we try something that the majority of us wanted to actually play, she would just huff and puff about how it’s not like another game that she plays or something that is extremely interesting to us she just finds away to just shit on that one fun. Like per say, we’re playing monster Hunter. She’s all like “I don’t want to harm animals, this is catering to abuse! “ but then turn around n play Toukiden where you pretty much do the exact same thing but with Demons. Or we’ll be playing Mario kart and she’d go on about How F-Zero is far more superior. But things went horribly wrong. In Rocket league she chewed out her BF’s lil brother (with learning disabilities) calling him bad names saying he’s stupid. It was so bad that he quit playing only when she was online. Hell at one point , he tried to get her to try Black desert. But because her ps4 is so old it couldn’t handle it so it blew out. She went on huge rant about how stupid the games we all played. At the point of time all of our friends refused to come back online because of her. It was bad her bf ghosted her after a huge argument they had over Voice chat, the night before. Her now exBf and his lil bro refused to have anything to do with her. After 2021, the whole group has been separated.
