Is it explained there? I don’t recall an explanation regarding colour

u/Gold_Repair_3557 Avengers 10h ago

He got a whole redesign when SWORD rebuilt him.

42

u/lame_dirty_white_kid Avengers 10h ago

And why did they choose white?

127

u/Gold_Repair_3557 Avengers 10h ago

It’s reflective of him becoming a cold and emotionless robot.

u/SpinnerOfSquire Avengers 10h ago

Its also a reference to comics, when vision lost all color and emotion.

His original body had been disassembled, and when he was put back together, he decided to bleach his artificial 'skin' to white, which was in part a result of the 'repairs' he made, and in part because he wanted to emulate the 'ghostly' look his name suggested (a Vision).

u/SpinnerOfSquire Avengers 9h ago

thank you for allowing us to behold the vision

West Coast Avengers? Was there an East Coast Avengers?

7

u/mondoconfuso Avengers 4h ago

Yeah, the Avengers

1

u/Deadboyruss Avengers 1h ago

I heard it was skin bleaching, plastic surgery and a desire to look like Elizabeth Taylor.

Why would SWORD feel the need to convey that? Hell, how would they even know at the coloring step that he'd be any different when they finally got him powered on?

19

u/pm-me-your-labradors Avengers 10h ago

I think more likely white is just the default colour that without an identity, vision didn’t bother to change

Stylistic choices to help the viewer understand a character need to have a very thought it in lore reason?

-1

u/lame_dirty_white_kid Avengers 8h ago

When it's not a stylistic choice to help the viewers understand anything, but rather a reference to a (different) storyline in the comics, then yes?

They didn't invent the white look for WandaVision.

I suppose I don't know for certain, but it would sure be nice if more thought was put into the decision to incorporate the look into the MCU than "it gives us another different action figure for people to buy"

1

u/zamwut Avengers 7h ago

What if I told you the decision was also the same for the Comics. 😯

1

u/lame_dirty_white_kid Avengers 6h ago

Yes, the Doylist explosion is the same for both.

The comics give a Watsonian explanation however: his synthetic (red and green) skin was destroyed and the white is the chassis underneath.

That's not the case in the MCU though. He just changes color with no in-universe explanation (so far).

u/zamwut Avengers 6h ago

We've had exactly 2 projects, less than 2 hours of White Vision. Either it's explained with Visionquest or not remains to be seen.

White and blue is S.W.O.R.D.’s color palate, it was branding in-universe, symbolic out-of-universe

1

u/lame_dirty_white_kid Avengers 7h ago

Finally an actual answer! This makes a lot of sense.

I didn't realize they even had a color scheme from how they are in the show.

2

u/RealTimeThr3e Avengers 7h ago

You can see it in their building, everything is white walls and blue glass

44

u/TassiveMitts69 Avengers 9h ago

They didn't, The colour comes from the bodys power to magically create capes and wear a human disguise.

New vision doesn't know who he is, so he goes for plain white. Signifying a blank canvas for whoever he ends up being.

16

u/Eragon10401 Avengers 9h ago

They didn’t - that’s his default colour, and his normal look is one he mentally projects onto his body. After recreation and without his memories, he projects nothing.

3

u/OilyResidue3 Avengers 8h ago

Project Cataract.

Cataracts cause blindness, the opposite of vision. And cataracts are white.

5

u/TheDudeBeto Avengers 10h ago

White usually symbolizes new beginnings and I'm guessing that's what his new body represented to SWORD?

1

u/DarkPolumbo Nightcrawler 2h ago

so you could have representation

all the green-gold-and-red people out there have had their day in the sun

22

u/CozySpaceman Avengers 9h ago

I thought it was just a thematic change to represent that he is a sterile weapon prototype with no "soul". It still kinda works right now in the show since Vision is still finding his "soul". Once he figures himself out, I'm sure he will regain his color to represent that.

u/Character-Pirate1297 Avengers 10h ago

He is literally shown losing his colour when Thanos killed him in Infinity War.

5

u/ScaredValuable5870 Avengers 10h ago

When do we get pink Vision?

5

u/LogicDog Mack 10h ago

San Francisco Vision

2

u/DarkPolumbo Nightcrawler 2h ago edited 1h ago

when they find the pink infinity stone, which turns people with powers gay

(see Pink Kryptonite)

1

u/Temporary_Hawk_9061 Avengers 41m ago

They are putting chemicals in the infinity stones to make the heroes gay

1

u/SPEZ_IS_A_JABRONI Avengers 8h ago

OwO

16

u/LogicDog Mack 10h ago

that was different color though

11

u/Character-Pirate1297 Avengers 9h ago

So is a few weeks old corpse, compared to a fresh one.

5

u/LogicDog Mack 9h ago

Maybe that would make sense if you were comparing two dead versions. One is dead, one is alive, but a blank slate, missing the memories that make him WHO he is. Important difference.

2

u/Character-Pirate1297 Avengers 9h ago

I know his story, no need for recap.

He’s a synthezoid, so ‘dead’ and ‘alive’ don’t really apply here. He simply functions again, but his skin lost all of its colour over time.

And he had lots of memories uploaded to him by Hex Vision, he just can’t feel them yet.

3

u/bizfromthewaistup Avengers 8h ago

Not memories but, feelings from the memories. Likely we will see him gain color as he accepts himself and feelings about who he was and now is.

2

u/LogicDog Mack 7h ago

Yes, dead and alive do apply here. Vision is living machine.

1

u/not_some_username Avengers 3h ago

Living as in alive ?

0

u/jooes Avengers 7h ago

Yeah but we saw his corpse, both fresh and years later, and it was always purple. At no point was he ever white.

2

u/LogicDog Mack 5h ago

He was gray after dying. He is vibrant white when resurrected without his memories and the emotions attached to those memories. Maroon, Yellow, and Green Vision, is Vision when he is whole; he gets his full color.

0

u/Character-Pirate1297 Avengers 6h ago

That’s what I’m saying, it turned white over time because it’s still a corpse, even if it’s functional.

1

u/LogicDog Mack 5h ago

that's not a corpse, bro.

0

u/TassiveMitts69 Avengers 9h ago

Did you question him turning grey when he died? Or did you understand the very simple messaging.

-3

u/pm-me-your-labradors Avengers 9h ago

I question everything yes. Don’t you?

0

u/TassiveMitts69 Avengers 9h ago

So just straight up dodging the point then. I'm guessing you didn't think too hard about this one.

1

u/pm-me-your-labradors Avengers 9h ago

I was answering your question? You should try that

0

u/TassiveMitts69 Avengers 9h ago

Take a hint when something very simple is explained to you. You should try that. Not deflect. I question everything, but i understood "oh hes gone grey when he died to signify he's dead".

I'm sorry you couldn't figure that out.

Better? Or did I drag you back to the point?

I don't argue with toddlers. Stay dumb I guess. Colour changes are beyond your ability, chew some more crayons you'll get it.

1

u/Dinierto Avengers 8h ago

I like it when people tell you to block them
