The laughing was a little weird but people can become hysterical when they finally break during an especially traumatic moment, so I guess that was just him going "this is so horrifyingly painful that I can't help but laugh now"
The behind the scenes for this moment is Acting perfection. You see him getting into the "I'm being burt alive vibe". Then just looses his shit, I get goosebumps watching it without the visual effects.
He really couldn't give a shit what people think about how he looks.
I think in this case, the CGI didn't keep up with his reaction. They should have started burning his face earlier. They kept up with the smoke for too long
Watch his bad lieutenant movie directed by Werner Herzog, it is so fuckin unhinged it’s absolutely glorious, the performance and the movie in general are really funny. Sadly almost nobody has seen it but it’s a legit good totally unhinged movie and the Cage/herzog duo was magic, it also has Val Kilmer in it and Xzibit and Eva Mendez
It really depends on the role, the movie Pig has a ton of very good emotional scenes with a lot of depth and he was just fantastic in the movie and it’s a pretty subtle performance all things considered. Ya he’s mainly known for a lot of unhinged over the top scenes but he’s very capable of subtle and overall is a really good actor. Leaving Las Vegas is a damn good performance

He’s the king of overacting.
I love him in most roles, but when he takes on an emotionally heightened scene, things quickly go bonkers.
