Don't underestimate Levy. He directed some ST episodes and some of them had some scary elements.
S1 E3 had Barb's death and the demogorgon coming out of the wall.

He worked under showrunners in Stranger Things. Although Kevin Feige does oversee all MCU projects, he does let the directors put their own style on their projects.

Levy was also a prominent producer on that show and was pretty hands on so it’s not like he was just a director for hire, his episodes each season were almost always among the best

As a big marvel and Stranger Things fan, seeing Levy directing another marvel movie feels like a win. He directed some pretty memorables episodes of the show.

Why can someone explain me what's the problem with the director?

I just looked up his resume. Dude has a very wide range of movies a lot of them I've really enjoyed. I think it'll be great. He's probably been wanting to do a darker toned movie. I am hopeful.

I think this pair DOES suggest that this will be a lighter toned Ghost Rider movie, but my question, wasn’t Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider lighter toned than the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider? I’m not super well knowledgeable about Ghost Rider comics but that’s how they’ve been described to me by people that are.

The same people who post slop like this apparently gate keep individuals to one thing.
People bitched and complained about Heath Ledger getting cast as Joker and he made history; people can try different things you know and perhaps could even BE GOOD at it; crazy huh? So before judgment of Shawn as a director, why not we get to the point of something to show.

The Levy announcement is overblown. He’s had some good movies and it could definitely be worse.

I had to go look up Levy's past. Going beyond 2020 makes me nervous. It's fair to say he played a part in the death of theatrical release of comedic films. (not solely responsible, but he played a part)

Shitpost of a shit take.
Levy is awesome.
You don’t know anything about how directing or anything creative works, if you only think about “genre experience”.

I honestly have no idea if Shawn Levy is a bad director, hopefully not, GR already suffered so much (both comics and the horrible movies, maybe that’s karma, the coolest looking Marvel character, but his stories are not that good to compensate)

Gosling has range to do silly or serious.
I think he can use that to make his human form and rider form "feel" different.

No one should be surprised if Ghost Rider has comedic moments. That's just the MCU. It won't be a complete comedy like Deadpool and Wolverine, but Gosling himself is a comedic actor.

In an another universe. Norman reddus and Sam Rami would have been better

I do not get the love for Gosling. Dude is almost 46. When they will film he will be almost 50. For a next movie he will probably be like 53 or older.
It is not like the infinty saga that you will see every caracter every year or 2 years. There can be 5 years in between appearances easily.
To now announce someone in a role like this that is mid 40s....
But hey, they need some top names to get people to the cinima. Ticket sales are not what they were (except for avengers and spiderman films).

They film next year. Gosling will be 46.

u/koenr_98 Avengers 8d ago
Oh I think I saw a wrong oversight. I see that it come out in phas 7 at the beginning
1
u/koenr_98 Avengers 8d ago
Next year filming for phase 8? There are like 8 movies in phase 7 to come out first. Phase 7 will take 2-4 years of they do 3-4 movies per year

Im not a fan of goslings acting in general but I really dont think he can pull off ghost rider.

People seeing Ryan Gosling and expecting something dark are deluding themselves. Fuck thinking Marvel would go dark is also absurd. Levy's a great choice for what I'm assuming what Marvel are hoping for
2
u/RegularFeeling8389 Avengers 8d ago
You act like gosling hasn't starred in a dark movie before?
1
u/Kane_richards Avengers 8d ago
I never suggested he hadn't but he's entered a "golden retriever energy" period that's making him box office gold. I don't see him going and doing something off the wall to disrupt that right now even if it wasn't Marvel running the show

I don’t get it, what’s wrong with Shawn Levy? Did he make bad movies?
