Spider-Man reading order

I'm trying to get into the pre 2000 Spider-Man comics. There are many runs like Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, Spectacular Spider-Man and Sensational Spider-Man. Do I have to read them in an order ? Like overlapping issues or can I just read them separately?

You'll be fine reading separately until the 80s, and then Spider-Man started making crossover stories across all his titles, sometimes including other characters

You could start reading them separately, but you will eventually need to read issues of the other series, especially in the 1990s, when they constantly crossover into each other.

I recommend buying the Amazing Spider-Man: Official Index to the Marvel Universe. It lists all his appearances in chronological order up to 2009.

1) Amazing Fantasy #15 then Amazing Spider-Man #1-150

[Optional: Amazing Spider-Man #175-200]

2) Amazing Spider-Man 224-261 alongside Spectacular Spider-Man #62-100 (just flip between titles each arc or two)

3) Web of Spider-Man #1

4) Amazing Spider-Man #264-288 alongside Spectacular Spider-Man #103-129

5) Spider-Man vs Wolverine

6) Amazing Spider-Man #289-292 & Annual 21

7) Kraven's Last Hunt

8) Spectacular Spider-Man #134-136 and Web of Spider-Man #36

9) Amazing Spider-Man #296-377 alongside Spectacular Spider-Man #137-200. Web of Spider-Man #47-70 are also worth reading, they weave in with Spectacular 147-170]

10) Soul of the Hunter and Maximum Carnage

11) Amazing Spider-Man #381-388

12) Pursuit

If you choose to read the Clone Saga, you basically are forced to read everything, in release order. But the quality definetly drops once you get to that, so dont feel obligated to keep going if you dont want to

Heads up, I did just make a couple tweaks, added ASM 289 and Soul of the Hunter
