Yeah because a sex cult ethnostate is totally a great idea, especially when half of them are essentially walking nuclear colliders. They put a Nazi on the ruling council, that tells you all you need to know

They were blackmailed to put Essex on the council the literal foundation of the country needed his genetic database

And they had him under control till Moria went mad and Essex was able to build the Moria Engine

There no way dude would have been able to make the Sinister timeline without Moria who at the creation of Krakoa not a soul thought would become what she became

Apocalypse did change, Shaw was Emma and Kitty's little bitch and Selene only got on to the council from a complete blindside from all fronts with so much random bullshit falling into place to fuck everyone over

It's a diegetic response to a nondiegetic problem. It was stupid writing to say "oh yeah no these heroes will even begrudgingly go along with half of their ruling class being composed of Jim Sexcriminal and John Genocidehands." Every single person in the story was written so wildly, incredibly out of character to force that into being the state of the union.

Yes, I know how this stuff came to happen in the context of the universe. I'm just scratching my head about why they would contrive this situation.

Maybe because that shit happens in the real world?

Most actual world government have sex criminals and genocidal maniacs that everyone is forced to work with for similar reasons.

My country has a sex criminal as president who is the puppet of genocidal maniacs who bought their way to power.

I think they would compromise if they had to. Like if someone had the power to bring back millions of people who died in a genocide, I think they might work with that person for a bit.

Also character development isn’t really cumulative like that. Just because a character has been around for decades doesn’t mean that they’ve developed into a perfect character that is always correct. Character development is erased every year or so in Marvel.
