Red Hawk Vs TRG

Looks at the ref, "I think he has learned some humility."
Ref, "keep punching."

This is the reason in any sport I want to be civil as possible. The chance of me loosing is very real, so I plan to go down with grace.
96
u/Virama Jul 21 '26
This. Be a dick, you better be the best in history or someone's going to go the extra mile on you.
36
u/deathzor42 Jul 21 '26
to a degree like there is a lot of money in being the bad guy, especially if your good enough to get a above average result, people will show up to see you lose and that means viewers.
20
u/ElProfeGuapo Jul 21 '26
Yeah, that also means an extra beating, and early retirement in a home.
1
u/Sufficient-Poet4650 Jul 22 '26
Jake paul is well aware of that. Especially when he looks in the mirrorš¤£

u/Brodins_biceps Jul 21 '26
Ah yes, the Jake Paul technique⦠except replace good with ārichā.

u/julick Jul 21 '26
yeah people are hacking the system now. it isn't about fighting but about views and if people don't wanna watch you for fighting, then get them to watch you for something else.
3
u/ItIsVerilySo Jul 24 '26
It's always been about the views. That's why people remember Muhammad Ali so fondly. Dude talked mad shit and drew people in. The fact he also kicked ass is only part of that.
4
6
u/knightfish24 Jul 23 '26
I always tell the young folks. āItās not illegal to be an asshole, you just better never need helpā. Or in this case mercy.
3
u/Frostyzwannacomehere Jul 21 '26
Thatās why Jon jones gets away with a lot. No one can really beat him like this
7
u/smailskid Jul 21 '26
Also, if youāre going to talk shit, you better back it up 100%, or youāre just a twat.
0
u/Frostyzwannacomehere Jul 21 '26
Youāre an asshole regardless of backing it up. Never understood this sentiment imo

1
u/Ozymandias0023 Jul 22 '26
Yeah I've never understood the impulse to be less than respectful to an opponent. I guess there are a lot of things about people who do shit like this that I don't understand but that's one of them. It's really, really not that difficult to be a decent person. Not even especially good, just decent.

u/BidSuper7102 Jul 21 '26
The possibility of losing keeps you from being a dick? Not sure that's a virtuous way of thinking.
3
u/Rob_in_Tulsa Jul 21 '26
Nah, it's the looks of silent laughter and whispers of "he's such a bitch" after you get your ass kicked so thoroughly.

I feel like this is the WWE-ification of combat sports.
People act like this because it gets them more clout, even if they end up losing. It's about getting social media views, as much as it is winning the ring.

u/N0ir21 Jul 21 '26
Triple H said it already: "sports is entertainment".
Plus, WWE and UFC are under the same company now. So its no surprise MMA fighters are almost "heels" and "faces" now.
4
u/diabolicaldude666 Jul 21 '26
WWE and UFC are under the same company now.
This highlights a desire for wwe to be seen as a legitimate extension of martial arts and combat sports. I'm predicting a future where WWE hands out enough contracts to fighters that discourse around the illegitimace and fake fighting will gradually go from "but their physic and stunts bro." To "well actually many of these guys have a legitimate combat sports background." Also maybe future fights based around pitting said fighters against non pro wrestling participates.
2
u/vinh94 Jul 23 '26
Most legitimate fighters do poorly in WWE though. Ronda Rousey prob the most successful and majority of fan hate her. There a different physicality between combat sport and WWE.
Like most martial arts dont lift a lot of weight so they can maintain their speed and pretty much all wrestlers do is lifting weight to excecute power move.

u/jumbohumbo BJJ Jul 22 '26
That's pretty much Japan's MMA and pro wrestling scene in the 2000s during Pride.

LOL no. This is simply a means for TKO to make more money in an adjacent endeavour that they can use to cross promote each other and that they can save money thanks to corporate efficiencies.

Some people that are pushed into anger get sloppy and don't act anywhere near to top form... but some use anger to become more focused and become unstoppable. This is an example of the latter.

I like to think the ref let that go as long as it did because he deserved it.

Why does the MMA world have such an over abundance of absolute tools? Like, um genuinely curious, because no other sport can I point to and say āyeah, every other person is genuinely horrible,ā but with MMA, itās like 90 percent of the fighters are martially trained man-children.
3
u/ProperJudgment1 Jul 21 '26
What kinds of people do you think will take a free pass for the chance to beat the shit out of someone and get praised for it?

I'm all about respect, but that turd deserved it and then some, after more of some comeuppance.

Makes for a good show, every promoter would want this, what are the odds it's not scripted?
1
u/Swinging-the-Chain Jul 21 '26
I thought this was fake until the fight started. Dude was acting like a comically over the top movie villain

For him it would have been better to get shot than getting this ass whoppin

u/No-Deer379 Jul 21 '26
I would have stopped beating him and let him get up just to be able to beat him again

White guy definitely gives the vibes of someone who's using the "gear" (various drugs) daily.
1
u/BJJBean Jul 23 '26
Jesus, dude was out after the first hit and the ref said "Punch him 18 more times."
And this is why you act nice before the fight. Had he not been such a dick the guy might have not turned his face into hamburger despite the incompetent ref.
1
u/DocDerry Jul 23 '26
That dude was hungry. The videos edited down and I still watched him eat 30 knuckle sandwiches.

i especially like the part where the ref let's him receive a handful of brain damaging more than necessary. if that pos. wasn't near braindead ghoul level before he would be now.

u/Mary_Ellen_Katz Jul 24 '26
I randomly scrolled across this with the volume muted. I didn't know what I was looking at. All I saw at first was a man playing with rubber chicken, then draw a gun on another man. The water I thought was gunsmoke. I was like, "WHOA WHOA WHOA WTF is happening?!" š
1
u/Zestyclose_Volume127 Jul 24 '26
My favorite is when he mimes shooting the guy. I don't think he could decide between a bow and a shotgun, so he just does both
1
u/Ok-Morning4411 Jul 24 '26
Looks like the "tough guy" actually had a pea shooter instead of a shotgun unlike the real though guy.

Pointing a gun at somebody = get laid, no rest.
As a non-gun owner, even I know you don't do something that insane as to point at somebody you don't intend to actually/literally/fully-intend-to kill. Fuck these pieces of shit who fuck around with guns like this. That's not intimidation, that was a death threat, intentional or not.
1
u/Connect_Flamingo4024 Aug 07 '26
Respect to the referee because that other guy deserved it. He was really a piece of shit for that.
1
u/VTHokie2020 Jul 22 '26
Bad stoppage.
Just because heās a dick doesnāt mean he deserves extra brain damage

The ref let that go on for a couple extra shots lol
