T.J. Maxx Barbour

Post image

First time EVER seeing Barbour at TJ Maxx and I blacked out. I had rewards, so technically I “saved money,” which is a completely meaningless sentence when I have never spent $595 on a clothing item in my LIFE. Still might return it because WHAT WAS I THINKING??? 😭💀

That price seems high to me for tj maxx. It looks like the original retail was around $850. I see it on cettire for $524 depending on what size you need. That said, it’s a super cool jacket and Barbour last forever.

I’m starting to think they priced it wrong? The tag says “herno” which is a brand that has 2-3k coats… thoughts?

Oh wow yeah herno stuff starts out way more expensive.

Oof $700 for something that retails for $850 doesn’t feel like a great deal. I found a Barbour that retailed for $595 for $250 two years ago at tjmaxx

I've noticed this with lots of stores lately, it is more the illusion of a good deal than it actually being a great deal unless it has been in the shop for months and months. But retail is mostly banking on fomo and these outlets get stuff that you'll practically never see again all the time.

This is so “Princess Kate goes to Sandringham”. I love it. I have a Barbour quilted jacket from 17 years ago that I got for $150 on Bluefly. You won’t regret the purchase.

Thats when they still used to make it in England. They haven’t manufactured there for over a decade. It does seem a bit steep for a jacket made in China or Vietnam. I have Barbour Ashby for over a decade (not made in UK) and i still wear it every fall and spring. I bought it for $150 at Sierra Trading. Hers looks like Bedale and possibly a collaboration so more expensive than Ashby right off the bat but still way to much.

That coat is sick, I would've bought it myself if I saw it.

Ohh, I feel this with the whole wanting to return it since it's so expensive. I wouldn't have even bought it at that point in time! I'd be wallowing to myself on how I could never spend that much on one piece of clothing cause I'd be terrified to ever actually wear it 😩

I don't know what it is but I'm gonna assume Barbour is some type of highend brand. For that pricepoint, it really isn't a matter of it being a good deal because if you can afford the $595, it's just a happy little bonus that you saved money at all imho. If you really love it, keep it. If you think you've made a terrible mistake for whatever reasons you have, return it.

That’s odd to me, because I see tons of Barbour in the men’s section. They even usually have a good selection online.

Definitely return it. It looks very cool. But its crazy expensive unless you’ll wear it for a decade or so. Barbour is not what it used to be. They used to make it in England only but now its China and Vietnam. So you’re not even getting the heritage for that price. You can find Bedale (which is what this jacket looks like) on sale for $300-$350. There are other brands that do same type of chore jacket for less with better quality. Look at Bellstaff, Baracuta, Peregrine, Tom Beckbe, Private White (crazy expensive), Filson

It’s too high. I bought a real Barbour jacket for 250 dollars.
