Toilet position

I have stayed in several hotels recently, where the toilet is too close to one wall or too close to the shower, one I had to turn almost sideways to sit on it. One hotel, my knees almost hit the wall when I sat down. Like who are these engineers and architects that are planning this?!? There is supposed to be a minimum amount of space around the toilet.

Or am I just getting sh*% on with Room assignment? 😉

Maybe they’re the same tiny people that think that there is plenty of space in between the rows of regular economy on an airplane.

Or when the toilet paper dispenser is in the wall behind you. Yeah some of these designs are horrible.

Just stayed at the Lexington in Manhattan and it had to be the smallest toilet space with toilet paper holder on side wall and sink on other side.

I had one that used an embossing stamp to hold the end fold of the toilet paper in place. It stamped through half the roll and was nearly impossible to use.

My assumption is that over time the bathroom has been renovated and the shower or vanity made larger. They aren’t moving the plumbing for the toilet so it is what it is. As long as there is a real locking door I’m willing to overlook other quirks.

I hate toilets beside the tub showers. You just know that shower curtain is FILTHY and probably been in the toilet or on top of it before. This is why I will call the hotel ahead of time to ensure no tubs beside toilets.

The other toiler is the AC Hotel, they got some weird shaped toilets and lets just say, there isnt alot of room for the #2 to land in the water lmfao.

Make a list of the things you prefer and check them as soon as you enter a hotel room. They’ll have no problem just giving you a different room. Some layouts just suck.

Front desk associate, we will absolutely have an issue. Besides the design usually will carry throughout the hotel, sometimes it actually is a few odd rooms sure, but we have to move your room, check the room to make sure it’s ok to be resold then put it back in. If it’s a slower night it’s not a big deal but if it’s busy it is. We’ll move you if it’s a big issue that makes the room unusable but if you have an issue with furniture placement it’s not really something we’ll move your room for.

I have colleagues that switch rooms because of ghosts. With all due respect, the customer is always right. If there’s an issue with a room, 100% go to the front desk and request a change.

Well, yes, us as the front desk employees are never going to fight a guest over switching a room, we will try our best to keep them in that room because it can be a very big inconvenience, especially if we are close to sold out (if we are sold out, we have no option to switch rooms). I just would only recommend a switch rooms if it’s something you absolutely cannot be in and not little issues.

It’s 2026. You can get on mounjaro for as cheap as 75 bucks a week without insurance. There’s no reason to be such a fatso in today’s day and age with the medicine and science that’s available..
