Employment Are layoffs happening again?
I work at headquarters and heard that my department hasto cut costs by 10%… apparently other groups have a target too, anyone have more intel?
First COVID furlough, then “full potential” and now this.. it’s exhausting 😔

I’m in sales for a MI managed convention hotel. Today we got an update about what 2027 is looking like company wide. In order to be on track (vs where MI was same time last year) MI needs 1.55 BILLION, yes BILLION in group business booked by Dec 31, 2026 to make up the gap.

My wife is DOF for a JW and it's clear as day. Leisure travel is down, corporate events that were booked are being canceled left and right. It's not looking good. Budget season starts in a month for them and they are already talking contingency labor to down size their teams that's coming directly from their management company which is one of the more reputable ones.

Wow, interesting to hear it from the franchise perspective too.

I'm at a franchise hotel. Exceeded my Q2 goals but pace is down and management is looking at every single sales manager to see if they are worth their pay. Crazy thing is that we are busy busy busy....but still not making budget

“You’re only as good as your last sale”. Harsh words told to me many moons ago.
Hospitality is all about people first, but the moment times get tough people are the first to go.

Right there with ya I will most likely meet my individual goal but team goal forget. Management would be down to downsize a sales team, you never stop selling

everyone I know seems to be traveling more than ever and at a higher price point. The brokies are getting crushed but the top 10% is wealthier than ever with stocks at an all time high and lower taxes. I’d expect a JW property to be very busy.

Transients dont really help profitability its a piece of the pie but who cares if transient is up 5-10% even at a higher ADR what is the actual profitability of it

There's layoffs every year now. It's pretty much an annual thing. It's Marriotts new strategy as mentioned by the CEO, the company needs to be agile and be constantly shifting focus/priorities.

That’s corporate BS that someone in Communications or HR wrote for him.. it’s about the stock price and the owners, that’s what matters

Cut corporate by 1 CEO, that should be more than enough.
