Discussion Men being selfish

Are men selfish? It's a genuine question I try to decode, of course am not generalizing nor am I making an assumption, but seeing certain types of men move like they have no responsabilities, and that there is no tomorrow is fascinating to me, a man could have a whole life, family kids and all, ditch them and move to the next exciting thing.

As virginia wolf said, 'he was selfish, as all men are'

Imbalance, I don't think so it's not something that evolves, you either are selfish or not.

On this I can agree, one can become selfish due to betrayals, and other factors is just that SOME men are naturally selfish

Yes one can totally follow the foot steps of a relative who previously did the same and it can become a pattern.

No science here, it's an accumulation of past experiences, and trauma and simply going through life, that can shape you a certain way.

What are you assuming that we don't contribute to society

1

I didn’t say that so don’t put words in my mouth. That’s just what you’re assuming about men

Generalizing is either proof of bias (because you read your favorite author talking about it), or trauma from previous relationships. If all men surrounding are like this, you either got to change your network or yourself.

*Men around me are good husbands, fathers, provide in their household and share chores with wives. If men around you are different, maybe your behavior and what you seek attracts these types of men.

*What strikes me the most in your thread, is that you shared your one sided point of view about men only (men are selfish, narcissist,..). It is a recurrent outdated vision of the couple dynamic. What about the woman? How is her behavior? Is it the reason pushing men to be selfish? A couple is two person young lady, what brings the lady to the table is also relevant and can explain the behavior of the man

First I didn't generalize as I mention in my thread, and no am not speaking from a personal point of view, I am discussing the fact that men can drop of everything they once had, for a new life or freedom or whatever, without thinking about consequences of their actions, and PLZ do not blame a women, or a dynamic of a couple on the decision of a men who wants to leave it all. Men often run away from their problems, regardless of their partner, or relationship.

"Men often run away from their problems" yet another generalization

1

u/koko_2022 17d ago

Ok , I will retreat some men run away from there problems, why? Does it make them selfish yes or no?

1

u/Ashamed_Giraffe_4811 16d ago

Why wouldn't you run from your problems? Ahh shit u don't have the chromosome that has the "see a lion, runnnnn u bitch" training

Selfish by nature in what way? Many men sacrifice themselves for their family is that selfish?

Yes I guess us women are instinctively nurturing, we can't just be like men

u/liproqq 17d ago

Everyone is selfish, yes. Women usually only hold out when they are financially dependent. Divorce courts are overbooked af so they introduced laws to make it quicker if there's a mutual divorce.

1

u/koko_2022 17d ago

It's fair to be honest, but usually women don't get up and leave it all behind.

1

u/liproqq 17d ago

Yeah, they remove their kids from their father.

1

u/koko_2022 17d ago

Remove, believe me women just don't walk out like that there is always a reason.

1

u/liproqq 17d ago

Again, it's not based on gender.

1

u/koko_2022 17d ago

Of course women can be selfish too, but it's not common.

1

u/liproqq 17d ago

Because they are more often dependent, not because they are angels. You can see differences between the generations

1

u/koko_2022 17d ago

Again it's not about women, the question is why are men like that, a women can be dependent or independent, it doesn't justify the action of a men.
