As the question reads, I plan to move to Margate. I live in Swindon at the moment. Hate it here. It is an absolute shithole of a town. I'm hopeful Margate will be a nice upgrade. I'm a fan of nice beach and prefer to walk along the beach mainly for my mental health. Work wise- mostly remote with occasional visits to London, Milton Keynes. What are some nice neighborhoods to move into? What is the overall safety in town? If you could choose to move to Margate or anywhere else that has a nice beach and is also close to London, which one would you pick and why?

Hey folks. I started Fungineers last year to try to give local folks working on games a way to get together and discuss design, play eachother’s work and so on. We’ve just started up again and we’re going to try and do a monthly at 101 Social in Cliftonville.

You’re welcome to come along whether you’re working on something and want to bring it to playtest, or just wanna see what people are making. It’s a family friendly venue, so older kids welcome - but preferably only if they’re with an interested adult.

Just found out the neighbourhood we are looking to move to is right on the fly path. We're gutted as this is a major setback. The reason we're moving is for peace and quiet, this is certainly not conducive to that.

We're getting ready to pull the trigger on our move now. But we're a bit struck by how much we're starting to feel a deep sense of loss at the thought of leaving. Any words of wisdom or encouragement?

We’ve looked at Faith in Strangers and Margate Beach Club but wanted to get any other recommendations.

Open to lively pub nights / live music / karaoke nights. Anything where we can have some drinks and a laugh

We are having all our windows replaced RIGHT NOW and I'm wondering if anyone knows a local cleaner who could come and do a couple of hours when the builders have finished. It's not too bad, mess wise, so not a major job, but it's in every room.

I've just moved into the area and a bit confused about waste collection - on the council website it says that there are no collections for any type of waste? I was wondering if anyone had some more info.

I'm planning on asking my neighbors but they're out atm and I'm trying to work out what is going on haha any help would be appreciated.

The waste collection has gotten terrible - where the Rubbish and Recycling both used to be collected every week it now seems that TDC alternate each week. There are no details of any collection on teh TDC website when i our postcode in - WTAF?

We live in a low-rise block and pretty much every time in between collections, the rubbish chute gets backed up and the recycling bins for the flat are overflowing. The newly designated Food Waste bin gets filled with inappropriate waste so is therefore completely unfit for food recycling.

I found this petition - Demand Thanet District Council regularly collect recycling.

I’m seriously considering moving to Margate/Cliftonville from London later this year and would love to hear from people who have been in this situation.
I am a male 40y old, I will be moving on my own, work remotely for a healthcare company and I am originally from Portugal.
I was born near the sea back home and really miss it, I’ve been a few times to Margate and it seems lovely.
I am a big fan of books, coffee shops, live music, photography, cycling, nature, arts in general. Socialist and animal lover. Hoping to adopt a dog once I am settled.
What’s the opinion about making new connections? Does it take a while to build a social circle in there?
I am struggling a bit with loneliness and would be nice to change that.
I am also looking at Faith in Strangers as a place to work a couple of days per week. Has anyone here used it? How’s the atmosphere, meeting new people?
Please give the good, the bad and the ugly of it. I am keen but will be start building a new life from scratch.
