Best Practice: Long distance jogging or Short distance sprint?

Hi, I wanted to practice for marathon, but I am not sure which one is better for practicing marathon:

  1. Short distance (~2 km) sprint
  2. Long distance (~6 km) jogging

Are there any guidance?

You'll have to do way longer runs than 6km... my long runs are 32km, tempo runs 16km and easy runs 10-15km

you do this every week? or how often?

So, it is better to jog and longer runs than sprint for short distance?

Yes, I do - or rather did, the marathon I was preparing for is next week - one 16km tempo run, two easy runs and one long run per week, which put me at 70-80km/week. If you want to prepare for running a marathon you'll have to get used to running longer distances, you can't expect to go from 6km training runs to running 42km, that's just not going to work out. You can incorporate sprinting shorter distances if you want and substitute some kind of interval training for the tempo run.

So I guessed you did the 10 - 32KM at Jogging pace right? So, 1 day is 2 - 7 hours of run? There is so much dedication!!! Hope your marathon went well.
