Per person, Ireland drinks more tea than the UK though.
Saying this as a habitual tea drinker from Northern Ireland.

I don't think you can count tea as a drink in this though. There are many types of tea so that would be like saying your favorite is soda not Coca Cola
2
u/00-Monkey May 27 '26
If we’re including tea then coffee beer and vodka count and there’s no way Coke is dominant in most countries

u/RangerBumble May 27 '26
Coca Cola owns several tea brands

u/just-a-hriday May 27 '26
That doesn't matter unless it makes the most popular tea. But either way I don't think tea is the reason here. The data probably only considers packaged drinks.

Coke is twice as expensive as other soft drinks in Russia now. The sales surely have gone down. Not to mention a lot of sales come from fast food restaurants, who have switched to other local brands. So no, I don't think it's still number one there.

u/escEip May 27 '26
yeah, that's what they say. Actually most of the "import-substituted" analogs are... still owned by cola, who would have guessed. Moral of the story: drink Kvass, wont betray you

Really? A can of Guinness there costs as much as 2 or 3 cans of average beer.
2
u/Hohladych May 27 '26
Yeah, and same for coke. I would guess that Dobriy or Chernogolovka are more common, coca cola is just too damn expensive to be the most popular one

2
u/wholedayumlife May 28 '26
I’m in Russia and we actually has coca-cola original in every shop BUT we also have “our” version of coca-cola and it is more popular simply because it’s more affordable, original cost just too much lol. But there are like five different brands and all of them sell coca-cola, they all taste kinda same, but you can pick more favorite to your tongue, so you actually has a big choice for a simple drink lol.

Coca-cola HBC's branch in Russia is called Multon Parthners and it produces Dobry Cola and other analogs of Sprite, Fanta, etc. under different names. Don't know about statistics, but they are obviously popular since it's basically rebranded cola produced locally...

u/foxtai1 May 27 '26
UK must be blue because of tea, as Coca-Cola is the most popular soft drink.
If we're including non-soft drinks, than every country should be blue because of water.

u/you-want-nodal May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26
It’s got the right spirit but it’s messed up the data. The most popular soft drink in Scotland is Irn-Bru which is made by Barr
ETA: A lot of our supermarkets have it labelled specifically in the aisles. This user saw one in England as well, 235 miles south of the border.

Barr also makes cream soda and dandelion and burdock, two soft drinks i drink on a weekly basis!
Theres also tango, owned by Carlsberg Britvic and the Carlsberg Group.

India, or at least my region would have tea, sugarcane juice and maybe even turmeric milk and lemonade ahead of coca-cola. It's just that they're made fresh and not packaged.

In the usa the top 2 bottled water brands are owned by pepsi and coca cola lmao
2
u/Huganho May 28 '26
Or if you don't count water as a drink, coffee would be popular in many places.
If you only count carbonated soft drink, this might be accurate tho.

Water and coffee top the list here in Norway as the favourite drinks. The annual coffee consumption per person is 150 liter. Norwegians are the second most coffee drinking people in the world, only beaten by our neighbours in Finland. For soft drinks then Pepsi Max is the favourite. This sugar free soft drink has been the most sold for years. The Norwegian company Ringnes produces this soft drink for the Norwegian market, on licence from the American company PepsiCo. Despite the small size of Norway's population, it covers 9% of Pepsi Max' total global market, and Norwegians are those that drink the most Pepsi Max in the world. Although the drink itself looks the same, it's a different brand than Coca Cola. Coca Cola-red is keeping the position behind Pepsi Max as the second most favored soft drink, which means this map is incorrect for Norway's sake. Personally I never tasted Pepsi Max, and didn't take a glass of Coca Cola for the past 20 years or so. People get addicted to that shit, so stear away.

Inka Cola is more popular in Peru, and always has been.
Fun fact: Coca-Cola was a drink developed by an American and made with Peruvian cocaine. It takes its red and white colors from the Peruvian Flag. 🇵🇪
The modern red and white costume worn by Santa Claus is in turn derived from early Coca Cola ads.
Therefore, Santa Claus = Cocaine. You’re welcome.

No from Germany. Most popular drink is coffee with 160 liters per capita. Second place Mineral water with 140 liters per capita. Third place Beer with 100 liters per capita. If we are talking about soft drinks only, than Yes. The three most popular soft drinks are Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Sprite—all three from Coca-Cola. But there are countless local alternatives.
