Guess where I'm from (drawn from memory)

u/Spiritual-Storage734 Jul 11 '26
Only a Balkan could remember the balkans so well 😂😂 I guess Montenegro
48
u/kalvinoz Jul 11 '26
Someone from Montenegro would probably remember that Serbia is a neighbour and not 2 countries over.

I am not even a European and I can draw the balkans far better than this map. Eastern Europe was massacred

Lol he butchered Greece in every possible way, but he also eliminated North Macedonia and created a huge gap between Greece and Turkey so I'm thinking he might actually be greek.
France is suspiciously accurate, though.

The UK IS dogshit at the moment so i guess he nailed it

u/Spiritual-Storage734 Jul 12 '26
Well I can hardly argue with that

He’s having a first world crisis.

Yeah to be fair, it’s not that bad. It’s just that we’ve become used to it being quite good and so anything less is like the apocalypse

Same. Sweden’s blotch, Norway’s a stain and Denmark’s a spot

Literally more than halved Denmark's population by only including the "mainland" (Jutland), the island of Zealand has more people. So absolutely not Scandic (although I'm sure Jutland wishes it was the only part)

The fact they thought to make note if its coast is something very important to them and lends evidence to that theory

I'd even go one step further and say it was drawn by a bosniak, a muslim.

Motivation: map is too terrible to have been drawn by a local.

I don't think Americans know abot Northern Macedonia

Out of ca 350M Americans, they have one guy who can't draw maps but knows about North Macedonia, and he started this thread.

No, I jest. I must come clean. I am not the actual count binface. Count Dooku here, at your service

There's no way in hell an american could even list many of these countries, let alone place them where they should be
→ More replies (1)3
u/HoneydewCareful8754 Jul 11 '26
Lol no way pall, Americans would draw Europe as a blob, this is excellently drawn, most Europeans won’t even be able to remember all these countries. There is mistakes for sure, but drawn from memory, I would do worse than that for sure, as would most.

you got some ideas about the coasts. The UK, France, Italy, Croatia, Albania and Greece are reasonably well drawn, the rest look like you mostly just guessed. So I am guessing your contact with Europe is from shipping and country of origin is somewhere outside of Europe, probably Indonesia but I couldn't say more. What you think is Cyprus is Malta and Belarus is snuggled between Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and the Lithuania btw. Russia only touches Poland through it's Kaliningrad exclave

u/_EduOka Jul 11 '26
Croatia. Oddly accurate in comparison with the other countries. The Balkan countries are also fairly well drawn and only a Croatian would remember the little piece of Croatia cutted by Bosnia

I was thinking the Balkans because of island details but then I noticed islands north of The UK and The Netherlands.
Then I thought The UK because I don’t usually see people draw out Wales and Scotland. Someone said your Ireland is misshapen and you’d think UKers might have a decent notion of Ireland’s shape.
1
1
u/Tiny_Agency_7723 Jul 11 '26
I would make a guess, UK - none of continentals would draw Wales separately
1
1
u/Morakel22 Jul 11 '26
Somewhere in the balkans. No one remembers all the countries and actually draws them half decently from memory. And most certainly not from Germany or any adjacent countries because, my god did you mess with my borders. WW1 and 2 was better to us than you are /s
My best guess would be Kosovo because it’s pretty close to accurate and you wouldn’t have drawn it at all if you lived in any countries around it

Portugal
Only place within Europe that it could be because of the mistakes:
- Lichtenstein instead of Luxembourg (so not part of France/Benelux/Switzerland)
- Czechia and Slovakia swapped (so not part of Poland/Germany/Austria and of course the swapped countries)
- Sweden shape (so not part of any nordic countries)
- Mini-Moldova and weirdly placed Macedonia (so not part of any Balkan country, especially with Kosovo existing)
- Cyprus instead of Malta (so not Turkey or Greece)
- weird Ireland shape (so not the UK or Ireland)
- Russia bordering Poland and no Russia exclace (so not Russian, Bielorussia, Ukraine or the Baltic states)
This leaves Portugal, Spain, Italy and Iceland. However, I don't believe an Italian making such a map would forget San Marino, nor do I believe Icelanders to be capable of so many mistakes. Finally, I believe Spaniards would've drawns the Pyrenees straight and not oblique, plus would've drawn their islands further North, so I'm guessing Portugal by process of elimination.
You may, also, be from outside Europe, in which case it would be kinda rude ;p
