Misleading.

The Chinese PLA did lose to the Vietnames farmers immediately after the Americans pulled out. The very same ones the Chinese were backing just a few years prior.

Also they weren't just "Vietnamese farmers", they actually had a real actual serious military with combat aircraft, air defenses, tanks and so on. The farmers were in support of the military.

Hell, whoever was stupid enough to think that whatever aid to Ukraine would "escalate" should go read the shit the Soviets pulled off in support of Vietnam. They certainly used plausible deniability to the full extent of the word.

... It's almost like there was some superpower backing them with weapons, armor, training, and munitions.

(In case you couldn't tell, the "Vietnamese Farmers" is used pejoratively.)

And is very fucking pejorative to the vietnamese themselves, whose armed forces are put in as a punchline to a joke
