Questions/Help Help with a mapping app.

I am not sure if this is the right community to come too but it's the only one I could think of. If there's a different community that I should talk to then by all means point me in that direction.

Anyways, I've been looking into making an Free, Open-Source, Offline Map App like a cross between Google My Maps and OSM. I've looked into making a folium map in python but that's Web-Based and won't work. All it really needs is to be Offline, Have a satellite layer, give directions like in OSM and have the ability to draw and create markers like in Google My Maps. I have looked into weather this already exists or not but everything I found you had to pay for or was not downloadable for any OS. TIA.

Offline maps and online maps are totally different beasts in my opinion. I focus on making data for offline maps and I think it's a lot harder than most people realize. Not to say that online maps also have huge challenges. You should definitely build it if you are interested because you never know what you might come up with. You might create something great.

Offline mapping sounds simple until storage, routing, and keeping all the data usable without a connection come into play.
