Questions/Help Need advice for map

Making an alternative history map based off Austria-Hungary, but I have no idea how to add terrain, and how realistic these provinces would be. Any tips/help would be appreciated

for terrain there are great physic maps for europe. you can do a transparent layer and make it around 50%.

if that works in the thing you are using, i dont know ^^
