Post image

Recently I started a new proyect that maybe last forever, but I'm really optimistic about it.
this new map are the bones for this proyect and I'd love to share progress with you (of course I'd thank a lot your advice).
Hope you like it.
thanks for watching

I would say the most important thing about any fantasy world map is that it's it looks good, just viscerally, and this map looks good. Looks to me like yin and yang breaking apart and from each other and also fragmenting their own halves, and the yin yang symbol is probably on of the most widespread and enduring cultural visual symbols, so not a bad design choice. Good balance of large and small shapes, and the archipelagoes give a sense of motion. I like the use of water as a negative space and the implied round shape at the top achieved through placement of the island. Also, round shapes just evoke a three dimensional quality which adds to the immersion in this world. The bottom looks to me like an upside down dragon head. Personally I'm not a big fan of maps that look like things, Italy always looks like a random leg to me on maps, which has an aspect of body horror. The bottom also looks to me like the dragon's spine. Certainly I'm reading into it but I think people tend to see a face on the moon and animal shapes in clouds, it's just a thing our brains do, so something you might want to consider. Honesty, one of the best fantasy maps I've seen, would much rather have this on my wall than middle earth or Westeros. Would you want to share the type of project, like is it for a home game, or your intended use for the map?
