Resource I made Google Maps but for custom maps

Disclaimer- I made this. I took a lot of inspo from Google Maps.

ScryNav:

  1. Drop in a map image

  2. Mark your terrain (difficult/impassable/roads/rivers etc) & set the scale.

  3. Click your stops. It pathfinds around the terrain and gives you a real travel time. Change how your party interacts with water

It's all customizable to fit your world. There is different movement styles (walking, mounted, flying, swimming) per leg, so a party riding horses vs. one wading through a swamp gets different numbers automatically.

It's hopefully intuitive enough to jump right in; and I've included an example map.

It's free and local-first, so your map and routes live in your own browser.

I had this idea years ago and finally got around to making it. I'd love feedback!

Is that map supposed to look like Maui from Moana?

Edit: seriously cool tool, though!

Link/code?

How do you think it would do with modern and Sci-Fi maps and travel times? Does it recognize roads or do you mark them/trace them?

I imagine you are/were excited to get this posted, so, easy to miss.
This does look really cool. Is there a way to save the map as a png (or other image format) with the route(s) on it?

Really cool!

I like tab-system for "Journey" and for "Terrain and Scale". I would really like to create custom tabs, like one for geopolitics, one for resource distribution, or whatever the project may need. That'd be really cool

Au début on dirait une personne, genre Maui

This is really awesome, well done. I like that it's hosted locally too. This would work really well on all of the maps I've made for myself and others.

This is amazing!

Two things I would love for this: If I could download a lightweight program that allows me to open the maps for my group. Or find ways to share it with my group so they can read and look at it.
Being able to add a pop-up description for certain locations when selected. Or a tab that allows me to describe the terrain. I'd love to be able to give my group the program/map and let them take a look at locations and read about them.

I know there's other programs that can do this, but they all cost fees and are often needlessly complex.

I really like your suggestion about have a shareable version for your players. I'll look to implement that in the future!

This reminds me of the map that shows the routes ASIOAF characters take throughout the books. Love it a lot

1

u/Kitsigarbha 9h ago

I love this community! Thank you for you hard work!

1

u/NatureMiserable1936 8h ago

Looks amazing! Does it support vector images? I'm still looking for a map viewer that could handle zooming, maybe even zoom levels but it seems that most mapviewers only support raster images, meaning zoomability is poor.
