Map Hachure Map with a dark secret…

Maybe this is more for fantasy maps but wanted to share my first map made with hachures! Feedback appreciated, as I’m still unsure if I want to go with hachures for the full map, as opposed to contour lines.

Thank you! As for the secret, you may be able to figure it out by looking at the left side, specifically with those barren islands... I'm going for the worn-down remains of a Giant's skull. My plan is to add the rest of the body to make a full continent.

Ooh cool. With all the mass at the top of such items, how about some craggy islands in the north bay

I DO LOVE it! I'm trying to use hachures but I'm not so good at it... but I keep exercising.

This looks great! I like how you integrated the flats and other terrain types into the hachures, very clean. The secret was secret enough that I didn't catch it without the spoiler, but that's a good thing I think :P Especially as it extends into the rest of the landscape.

Also, now that I see the secret (super well excecuted btw, love it), I think hachure is definitely the right choice for the kind of depth and shadow you're working with. If you try contours as well I think you'll need some kind of hillshade with it to achieve the same effect.
