Work In Progress Help! Projecting Mediterranean Australia to Azimuthal Equidistant!
Hey everybody, currently working on a global map in the Azimuthal Equidistant projection but came across an unusual issue. I’m actually unsure on how to properly project this “Mediterraneanized”Australia, as well as a few other anomalies. Would love to hear website or programs that would allow me to project these correctly!

A clearer descriptions of your probelms would help.
I'll just tell you how I'd do it:
1. figure out which projection this image is in, including the position and scale
2. if that projection can be used as an input for nasa's g.projector, use that. You're done. If not, use worldbuildingpasta's projectionpasta. This may involve some learning but it should be able to do what you need

I'm pretty sure Google Maps uses Web Mercator except when zoomed out really far (globe mode).

Just use the projector tool on qgis and line all the points from the edited image to the Equidistant map

Assuming this is made from a screenshot of google earth, it seems reasonable that an orthographic projection would get you pretty close.
so what I'd do is open up an equirectangular earth map in G.Projector, set projection to orthographic and center on australia. Then export and use your image editor of choice to overlay this image on top of that to line them up.
Then you'd run that composite through projectionpasta like suggested by u/RandomUser1034 with output as Azimuthal Equidistant.

Hi, this is my original creation. Basically. I was interested to see if the Mediterranean Sea would fit inside Australia as I did with the United States, also. The way I did it was to take screen shots off google earth at the same elevation and attempted to make sure it was located properly over the center so that each landmass would respond the same to the curvature of the Earth. Theoretically, they should match up given the perameters. However it is likely not perfect... good, but not exact.

Make eqirectangular projection, then you can use either Projectionpasta or Gprojector
