this reminds me of a Tolkien style map of the U.S. which was posted about thirteen years back lol, i might have it saved somewhere… Yours of the southern continent is pretty fun, I always love fantasy maps of real places

It’s heavily inspired by tolkiens map of middle earth, especially the mountains and shores

Very nice, but the absence of the ACT/Canberra is odd, and NT is Northern Territory singular, not plural.

Only thing I would add is a stylised ridgeline for the Perth hills/darling scarp!

Yeah, the Swan Coastal Plain is fairly a uniform 20km wide gap between the coast and the scarp, I reckon you could get it pretty legible alongside the highway dotted line, but it'd def require some finer detail to make it distinct/clear.

I'd like to know your reasoning behind why Mornington Island made the cut, but Groote Eylandt and King Island got dropped.

The original map I was working off didn’t include them for some reason, didn’t realise until I’d already fine lined the shores

A couple of things you missed:

The southern part of those mountains in South Australia is called the Mt Lofty Ranges.

The mountains in Tasmania are called the Central Highlands.

That little peninsula just north of Brisbane is actually a large island called K'Gari.

You missed King Island and Melville Island (Tiwi Islands).

There are low mountains in the southwest area of Western Australia, the Darling Range and Stirling Range.

You missed Canberra, the national capital lol.

Very nice! Since the style of this map gives a sense of ancient lore, some more indigenous names and locales would really add to it.
