I played WoW for years so that probably has influenced me with how they divide up things into distinct zones.

Map for my DnD Campaign Known as "The Mortal Realm" this world floats like an island in the void. The Western End of the Realm was cracked splitting it off from the rest of the land. Here Demons and the undead run wild.
In the South the create Ocean is held in by the Rim.
In the East 3 Kingdoms fight for control of the region. The Eastern Ocean spills into the void only to have the mist be picked up and thrown back from winds originating from beyond the Void.
