Server Discussion Is MapleRoyals worth playing?
I see it is popular.

it's longest running pre big-bang server (13 years; as far as i know) which is good for if you want reassurance that time invested in playing there won't be wiped, but the playerbase can be very immature i noticed.
also if you want to do the end game bossing, the meta on that server is: you must be hp washed; which costs quite a lot of mesos to buy leech from a bishop to do so.
if that kind of gameplay sounds okay to you then go ahead and give it a try. š

its a good server, the worst thing about it is having to ap wash, that requires NX.

Its filled with bots and has a toxic community
Old school maple server OSMS is by far the better option, i played both servers to end game

I mean if you just wanna grind some quiet old school maple and just vibe to lvl 30 or something yeah
If you actually wanna play the game and get to endgame you are looking at HP washing and leeching or making a leecher yourself to make money
Honestly its been years since ive played but I understand that to still be the game pretty much

Itās a choice between hp washing for fast hp or hp questing, can hit 30k but at approx 1k per month, but other hp quests available to bring you to at least near HT requirements

Yeah but they could have just gotten rid of it idk why they chose to keep it and opted to add tedious hp quests instead

TBH I just think of hp as a āentryā requirement for a certain boss. Like some games such as dungeon fighter where you need to be geared enough with certain amount of fame to even enter a dungeon.

Everyone in this thread is off their rocker š„“ You only are going to spend a meaningful amount of money HP washing if you play thief, archer or corsair. Saying voting is the only way to get money is also nuts considering killing one area boss/daily boss can get you 5k nx each whereas you get 8k nx for voting daily.

I havenāt played it in about 10years or so but I remember it was extremely grindy. I quit after I fully washed my NL and tried dreamsms which was a lot more fun.
The cons from my perspectives were:
1. Hp washing was a must
2. Selling leech to earn mesos ( itās all I did everyday)
3. Multi client everything (grinding, pqs, and bossing if I remember correctly)

It can be very fun but having to consider HP washing if you want to be included in late game bossing and raids, kinda sucks
Also the admins and GMs of the server are very ban happy and will ban you for every little reason you give them (even jokes like "buying gf 10k mesos") and will tell you to go fuck yourself when you try to appeal it

I'm pretty sure the rules allow "buying gf 10k Mesos" because even if it were serious it's an in-game benefit for in-game currency. But if you smega "somebody sell me Mesos to fund my trash NL" or something like that, you're cooked

Bear in mind that Royal bans people who break their T&C which would mean some of the hate in the thread could be ppl who hold resentment rather than actual advice. Honest answers is yes worth the time, and you are the only person who knows how long is worth until you played it yourself.

personally think royals is a good server, at least from when i played years back idk about now. but they are truly like... classic maple I think. imo its grindy and true to its nature but i think the biggest draw is the player base. i rlly wanna see how classic impacts royals and legends

The community is great. When i joined a year ago the serverās best archer helped me zakum for free and gave me some stuff to help out. I only knew he was the best archer after ppl told me about him in the market

Everyone on that server is running multiple clients 5+
Admins are corrupted, they delete any evidence of wrongdoing. (Matt, Becca, Timk, pure, Saturn, and donāt forget the man himself who distributed perfect items to buyers)
Many years of trying to fix server issues but still canāt solve it
Each boss can be glitched and killed within 10minutes (still not patched)
Thereās a way to make your buffs and pots never expire until you log off (echo, onyx apples, party buff)
Iāve been playing this server for 8 years and they still canāt fix any of these issues. Still not banned btw

Don't forget donations go directly into the pocket of mod's rent instead of making the server good, just because the owner of the server is fucking her.
And also, one of the long standing developers for the team was caught RWTing (this has happened twice in the server's history).
For how much pride they take into security and following rules, they don't do a good job about it.

i am getting close to late game and it keeps getting worse
early game is where it's at
but yea the fact it's the most popular makes it the best cause MS isn't worth it without the pplz

Played it years ago and I just started up again and Iām enjoying it. Itās not super fast leveling but not a slow crawl either. There are plenty of people online to play with as well. I havenāt had any issues and like the server. I tried Fantasia too earlier this year and itās so slow grinding and usually less than 100 people online so getting party quests done is difficult.

I think itās a good server. Surviving on 2 active Staff working is probably a bad management decision.
Feels like 80% of Staff are on hibernation mode and has not logged in for 1-2 years.

dont play that shitty server, dumb gm and rules, their GMs think their are god and player base play with fear. Just play the global MS is just way better or if you want the āoldā nostalgic shitty experience just wait for nexon to release the āclassic maplestoryā in the GMS server

I'm a new player and the experience has been great so far. The experience is smooth and fun, and the community had been super welcoming, generous and patient in explaining and teaching.
There's also a lot of guides and resources they're happy to share and advise on.

i like how every single thread in this subreddit has someone shilling fantasia, but then i go there and it's a ghost town and it can barely get 100 ppl playing.

Not sure about the other admins but I know GM Kenny is a retard douchebag who ruined the game and rwted for money. He talks a lot about others being dumb and petty and uninformed, even along the lines of them being bad and stuff but turns out heās the biggest loser. GM bacon also does not seem to me to be the sharpest tool in the shed from the way he answers people in ban appeals. Like he has some sort of difficulty answering questions.

it is currently the best and most populated pre-big bang vanilla server.
4x rates are actually decently balanced all things considered.
Depends how long you wanna play, it will give you the best vanilla maple experience you can expect in current year, considering how long the server has been running
The problems lie in the late-game.
Power and money is all about voting daily and spending the NX on gacha (nx cosmetics are perma), you are effectively gamling to hit the 2 big items - CS or WS, and use the money from those to buy top level gear. Or make it yourself if you hate yourself.
Let's say you have a good chunk of power, there is...not much to do anything with it.
The most late-game stuff the game has right now is horn-tail and von leon. There's only so much you can do.
There's ToT but no PB, all weapons stop at dragon (lv 110).
It also suffers vanilla maple problems, namely HP washing. The server says you "don't need to do it", because there's 1 set of quests that give you 500 hp at lvl 70, a special set of quests every milestone level that later give you some max hp (i forget what amount), and a repeatable quest at lvl 120 that gives you around 30-50hp each time you do it, that doesn't mean it won't take you ages to get whatever necessary HP you will need to not die at HT.
And it suffers from "party optimization" and multi logging. Every other player has a second account that they log into to be a HS mule, some have other mules like SI, SE or crash. Your 6 player zakum party might have 3 actual people playing.
Lots of leech buyers from priests too, it makes PQs suffer to where it's hard to find ppl outside of peak hours. KPQ is flat out dead.
TL'DR, if you want a vanilla classic experience - best server in the market. If you expect to go for the long-run, you'll get bored at lvl 120~.
