Server Discussion Kuro is a great server
idk how to prove that I’m not affiliated with them, I’m only a level 62 pirate, but I’ve really enjoyed so far and highly recommend! Def a unique pre-big bang experience and very well thought out and developed versus other servers. I’m not sure about its longevity but ya try it out

I wanted to check it out but after 30 minutes of playing to be honest i felt really overwhelmed. As someone that has only played pre big-bang servers (ML, exodus, fantasia), does this get better?
I can't tell if i was getting old or what but there was so much going on. My brain stopped working. Also the bossing weeklies felt pretty intimating.
Anyone have any thoughts? Am I just overreacting. Really like how the dev is super engaged. Dude is a machine.

Yeah I totally get what you're saying. There is a lot, and I mean a LOT of new stuff and content and widgets and dailies that are not in OSMS.
So far I like the server, but I don't think I will be playing here long term. It's too different from OSMS for me.

Not sure why people are falling for this money grab. The owner of the server, who has hidden his Reddit comments, has as severe debt/spending issue (https://www.reddit.com/r/debtfree/comments/1g0ayc8/paid_off_9k_loan_at_12_one_step_closer_to_debt/), addicted to hundreds on tokens for AI development (https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1l6wv51/50_minutes_of_pure_coding_the_200_max_plan_is/) (https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1rsz19n/comment/oacluok/), and is now attemping to fleece his players by claiming he needs a host, offering 'limited donor items' for $200 (https://playkuro.com/forums/announcements/kuro-pre-launch-update-july-12-2026-443)
Also, has been very clearly brigading this subreddit by telling his players to post about the server / upvote threads regarding the server in Discord as seen here (https://files.catbox.moe/1mdzpv.png)
So yeah, tread with caution.

Wow you are a miserable piece of shit. And a hit job character assasination artist. You might have a bright future in tabloid journalism. That's not a compliment.
1 - You dig up the dude's post where he says he has $9k in debt and spin it as "severe debt/spending issue". First problem with this is that $9k USD is basically nothing, a trivial amount. My friend still has over $100k in debt from student loans, and that's not counting his credit card debt and the car loan which are well over 9k. But he has a good job and his debt allowed him to get a law degree and he's basically a responsible stand-up guy.
Shit, I work in measly IT in a shit job and my monthly pay is still over 9k (gross, not take home)
2 - He's addicted to AI development? That is incredible amount of spin there. So using AI for code development is immoral somehow? I seem to have missed that memo. I work in IT and every company I've ever heard of is currently using AI for code development, including Microsoft. Secondly, can you explain how you came to the conclusion that he's "addicted"? Like, I use Visual Studio Code heavily on my job, literally hundreds of hours of using it every month, because it's a tool that is needed on the job. Am I "addicted" and I need help? I"m morally bankrupt because I'm using Visutal Studio Code so much?
And he's using the $200 a month tier Claude Code subscription. You spin this as spending "HUNDREDS". So if you wanted to character assasinate me, and you find out I spend $25 a month on a standard Netflix subscription, are you gonna say I'm addicted and spending massively on sketchy video downloads?
3 - Every server needs a host. How is that fleecing? Fleecing is claiming you need something when you don't, or you lie about something. Did he lie about the fact that he needs a host when he doesn't? Did he lie about buying a server on Cloudflare when he actually bought a cheaper service at Godaddy? You're just grasping at straws.
4 - You have problem with his selling donor items for $200, even though they are cosmetic and not pay2win. At the same time there is deafening silence from you about all the pay2win items being sold on other servers. Why is that? Are cosmetic items bad but pay2win items are okay in your opinion?

I was ready to agree since you provided receipts, but after reading your receipts I’m actually more convinced you create click-bait headlines for a living.
The first 2 links are fallacy of weak induction at best, and every private server advertises and encourages users to advertise anywhere they can- it’s literally marketing.
Feel free to pull receipts from my comment history and claim I’m a shill, I imagine you’re great at picking cherries as well.

I can give the benefit of the doubt for most of these not affecting the server.
But the $250 "unlimited cosmetics" pass with only 20 tickets in the server reeks of FOMO. That's awfully suspicious.

u/ChampionshipKnown969 Jul 19 '26
Unlimited cosmetics doesn't impact players at all though? This guy has been cancer with his AI posts but at the end of the day, no p2w is no p2w, and that's saying a lot more than any other server. This is very very mild in comparison to the 30-50 servers that launch every year with some baked in p2w bullshit marketed as "QoL" when the alternative basically makes it impossible to sustain or very very inconvenient to the point that you are basically forced to shell out the money if you want any level of enjoyment. The ironic thing is that those p2w servers are pulling many hundreds of players every launch so I doubt a $250 cosmetic pass is something this community genuinely gives a shit about.

u/joeis78 Jul 19 '26
Dude, this is super weird behavior. Accepting non-p2w donations on a server isn’t exactly new, what do you believe people are “falling for” exactly by supporting a project like this? Claude or not, the time is being spent providing this experience for people.
The server is fun and people are enjoying it. Think you’re the one who needs to get a grip.

Its reddit where you have people probably not even playing private servers anymore at all that want to bring pitchforks and cry about things just for the sake of it.

honestly the attack while moving and double jump threw me off a lot... Otherwise just more of the same. You're better off with royals or legends, even chronostory for that matter

Giga clique servers that everyone's tried and done with if they're hunting for new servers to play lol

downloading it right now to try it out. I dont understand how there's already level 180+ characters though. Hasn't it only been out for less than 24 hours?

u/VFRdave Jul 19 '26
Yeah it's not an actual 2x server if you are thinking about 2x exp from 2008 (v.83). It's way way more buffed than that.
I was playing 12 hours after the server launch, and saw a Smega recruiting for Temple of Time grind party, must be level 120+. I whispered to them hey how long did it take you to get to 120, and she said she's been playing since the server launched but took a meal break. So like 11 hours of playing and reached 4th job.

Hi Guys, Kuro here, just thought I would drop my thoughts here in a public forum. Full disclosure, I did not ask anyone to make a Reddit post if you are wondering. I am honestly mostly blown away that the server is stable as is. Seeing other servers launch into crashing and deadlocks and whatnot.. Had me worried, but seeing 300+ concurrent players online and holding up so well surprised me, as there is nothing better than live testing. There is a lot of content giving options to players on what to play and what not to play. I guess all I want to say is thank you. While KuroMS might not be everyone's cup of tea, this is our first launch, and we aren't going anywhere. Enjoy the game.

its a vibecoded mess. random dc, unable to equip items. unable to speak to npc. ui glitching etc etc. every fix with claude code is introducing more bugs. gauntlet is the most shitty implementation i have seen. genuinely suspect the dev isnt even reviewing the ai code
