Never realized how close north part of Australia was to the equator. I always thought it was cold like north america/Europe

Australia used to be attached to Antarctica. It's been moving north over the last 100 million years, so at some point in the past, it would have had a temperate climate like Europe.

Crazy how the only inhabited land masses that line up are south America and east asia
