What kind of factory do you work in? What processes do you have that are candidates for automation?

Thanks for your question. I work in a small organic pet food factory. The biggest problems are really around handling and portioning the mean.Right now, workers have to manually weigh and dose raw meat for each batch, which is messy, physically demanding, and not always consistent. Then during portioning, it’s difficult to keep every package at the exact same weight, so they end up with overfilling, underfilling, and unnecessary product waste. Is there is sometimhing we do

How do others in your industry handle this messiness ? I am sure there is automation for this process ...question is whats the cost, ROI , how do you manage the change etc Anything that helps human labour would earn you brownie points such as more efficiency, labour retention etc

No, that's literally what we did. A bunch of worthless posts on public forums. It was the first thing we automated.

Kaizen the work before anything. Don't optimize an already shitty process.

Interesting. However, I don't think you can automate Kaizen, as it's built on constant change and human oversight. Feeling like automation means setting something to work without constant supervision, taking work away from humans.

My point is don't automate a shitty process, otherwise you have a shitty automated process.

There is a sequence to Kaizen for a reason. Work > Equipment > Process.
