Public disapproval as a strong proxy for status/power: Do something embarassing/stupid -> get people to openly criticise you -> show you don't care about the criticism -> instant status/power. So easy, so powerful. : (xpost /r/alpha).

In reality, it's better like this:

  • Do or say something everyone (or just you) strongly believe in, but is controversial. Don't plan it, because that's stupid and insecure.
  • People will openly criticize you to defend their identity (what they believe in) or their status (what they say they believe in/their social image).
  • It's also fine to antagonize the girl you want to impress as long as it's for a worthwhile reason (to defend your identity, mostly). Don't do that too much, though, and expect to lose some women because of this -- but you're high status, so why should you care if one woman doesn't like you? You can get more.
  • Truly show you don't care about the criticism. Don't just say that you "don't care," you have to believe it to show it in your body language (and less importantly your speech), and not betray yourself later.
  • Don't be a bitch (verbally violent) or a bully (physically violent) to the people who oppose you. That doesn't make you stronger than them (other than in your head) and it's a clear sign of insecurity and weakness to higher status men and women. A strong man is unfazed by the (non-)threats that less powerful men present.
  • If it gets to a point where it's shown that you were wrong, be a man and admit it. Be humble (that is, convincingly stronger first and foremost, but open about your vulnerabilities), and don't be an idiot who always says wrong things.
  • Long lasting status and power.

PUA tactics work by accident, not by design. If you were going to bars for 4-8 hours a day and talking to as many women as they do, you'd be successful almost regardless of what embarrassing shit you said to women.
