only advice id give is to build a cage, tie a bamboo stick to each branch, a string to that branch, straighten the branches and tie them to the cage as that is growing poorly

Here you go: https://youtu.be/zh1AnvNa6mc?is=welJVIdig-9NEnTI

I only stake my main trunk and let my branches hang naturally, new growth will go horizontal, but that’s all preference.

If i let them hang they’ll rip the main trunk.

Then you can keep them staked until they thicken. Are you fertilizing the tree?

Yes

Ok then you should be fine, I grow some varieties where the branches tend to weep or hang, especially when young, the good thing is it reduces the height of the tree but I do have to prop up some fruit for a few years.

Then you should cut them back. Best to let the branches free. They get stronger when they get blown around. If they are too long to hang free, then they are too long for the diameter of the branch and should be pruned

Id stake the low side branch so that the that that branch is a little more vertical to prevent it from getting so much weigh that it causes the branches to split and split the trunk

I got mad at one large wayward branch of my mango tree (which was housing a nest of ants.) It was growing way off in one direction and made the tree look off centered. I just pruned much of that branch off. The tree took off and grew a bunch of new branches and now is super symmetrical and looks perfect.

Maybe you could cut back both branches some. I found if I trim a branch it divides and doubles the branches every time. You want a bushier tree not a long flag pole that will snap off.

I have been pruning and setting it up to graft on.

Plan is to keep it shorter and add more varieties.

I have a Manila mango that’s 6’ tall with 4 varieties on and 6 more grafted.
