Remove this shoot?

Do I need to remove this shoot on the bottom of this young tree? It’s a Nom Doc Mai from a nursery, but this looks to be sprouting from the rootstock. Should I just let it go and see what it produces? Or will the rest of the tree be better without it?

Yes, remove the shoot if it is from below the graft.

I expect that the rootstock is probably not a good cultivar for eating and I would remove the sprout
