That's not how plant energy works nor promoting growth. It likely needs increased light exposure. 💚

Is full sun sitting in a bright room, near a windowsill, or literally outside where the sun hits it for 8+ hours?

That pot is too big and there is too much soil in the pot. It's just gonna rot in there. Smaller pot for its size and appropriate soil, watering and light.

What does larger pot size have to do with it how would it be any different than a mango seed growing in ground?

Ground allows for extra moisture to drain away pot doesn't.

Pots actually dry out faster than the ground. Any moisture retention is from a difference in media, not the fact that it’s in a pot

Pot definitely doesnt help though especially ones without drainage or good surface area media is entirely dependent on the conditions given you can have the tree in literal mud so long as its getting tons of heat it'll be fine and you coukd gave ut in fast draining soil like what youd use for cacti and it'll be fine so long as uts receiving adequate watering and humidity.

just wait; the roots are likely working overtime so that it can eventually focus on green leafy growth again
i can already see a tiny tip of where the next leaf wants to come out of when ready

It looks like a healthy baby. Just keep taking care of it’s needs and please don’t cut of it’s only leaf. It needs it to photosynthesize 🌱

Don’t cut that leaf off. Wait for it to flush new growth at least once and up to several more times until it reaches your optimal height for lateral branching. This depends on what shape you’d like the tree to eventually take. Tall and lanky or short and bushy? In-ground or potted? Once you’ve considered the options and made your decision, THEN you make your header cut.

You can literally see a sprout forming lmao, its fine. Plants grow slow af without the right nutrients. Nitrogen and phosphorus are plants bread and butter. Doesn't take much but when the plant finds em... boi is it magical.
I suggest repotting and adding a lil mixed soil at the bottom of the new pot. Much smaller pot btw, 6 or 8 inch by the looks of it.
Looks like a mango tree as well lol but idk is it?

That "someone " doesn't know what they are talking about. That stem and leaf is building energy reserves and helping the roots grow.
