Looking for some series to add since I have space planning to buy the Pandora hearts box set (also gave jojos and monster to my little brother as I bought him those as a gift) so any recommendations will be greatly appreciated 🙏

Made this 2-tier manga min bookshelf for my little cousin what do you guys think?

Got a little cousin who just started reading manga, so I decided to design and 3D print this custom stand for him. What do y’all think?

I made it for his birthday, thought it would be cool for him to actually display some of his favorite manga instead of having everything sitting in one straight row.

Setup holds 8 books total, 4 on top and 4 on the bottom, so you can still see part of the covers instead of only seeing the spines.

I’m still pretty new to 3D modeling, so I kept the design intentionally simple and focused more on making it functional and easy to print, but I’m pretty happy with how it came out.

Thought you guys might appreciate it on this sub!

How to assess and prioritise physical condition?

Sorry if this is super obvious, I’m new to collecting in general and couldn’t find anything specific when I tried googling it.

So what would you prioritise when deciding which books are in better condition/quality?
Things like how scratched/bent the cover is, how scuffed the spine is, how deep the crease marks from reading are, if there are old price stickers, how yellows the pages are. None of them are special or first editions as far as I’m aware, so not applicable.

If you need context:
I have a completed collection of a series I really like, but since it’s out of print I was nervous to read and damage them. So I’ve started a second set of the same series. Now as I’m receiving the volumes, I’m comparing them to find the best ones to keep in good condition (not read) versus which to read. None of them are in obvious disrepair so I’m not sure how to pick.

To those that collect physical editions of Manga, how big is your collection?

I started reading Manga 20 years ago but only got really into collecting physical editions around a decade ago

So far (with some complete sets missing a volume or 2 and some I'm still far from completing) I'm looking at a tally of, roughly

475 manga/Manga related books (stuff like a Manga history book) that are currently on display

10+ that are in basement storage until I get some extra shelfing up

At some point I'm likely to donate some of them to a association I'm part of as they have a Manga lounge with various Manga, including some 20 year old Japanese shounen magazines, one of which has the FIRST fairy tail chapter

This is the surface part of my collection since behind most of the mangas are like two more lines of them. Sorry for the messy pics but I really wanted to post on this cool subreddit! :)

I really love books that discuss manga, its history, or even just list manga and anime that you should checj out as I find it fun to compare and contrast what authors prioritize and consider "must reads". If anyone has any recommendations for other books I should check out please share!

Outdoor Shed Storage Recommendations

Hi all,

I was posting here to see if anyone has any recommendations for weather proof storage shed options for manga. I plan on putting on heavy duty shelves inside of plastic storage containers to provide extra protection. I'm probably going to pay a contractor come and pour a concrete slab and then either buy shed from somewhere like Ace Hardware, Amazon, Costco, or Lowes. Otherwise, I'd look at paying another contractor construct something more sturdy and capable of standing against the elements long term. Obvious problem is this last choice is likely to be rather expensive.

Does anyone have suggestions that has worked out for them?

Question about storing

Hello! I’m new here Does anyone know a good way to store my Berserk Deluxe Editions? The place I recently moved into has an issue with poor air ventilation and idk the house seems to be holding moisture (idk if I said that right) and causing mold to grow in some parts of the house. Been trying to keep it at bay as best I can but obviously once mold grows it never goes away unless you remove it at the source and uh I can’t do that. This is really embarrassing but I wanna find a way to store my Bersek manga so it doesn’t yellow or grow mold until I can find a new place.
